I wasn't going to post this, I feel like such an idiot, but then I thought this might serve as a valuable lesson to other members.

I went to the lake Wed., by myself, first mistake. I went to work on the boat and to switch out the Seadoo's, we usually leave one at the lake. Well instead of switching them out the correct way I thought I would just use a shortcut by just moving one by hand and then move the other ski into the same spot. Big mistake, the trailer and ski got away from me, and in a effort to stop it, I some how got my right arm pinned between the trailer winch and the hull of the ski. I was drug about 300-400', skinnig up (road rash) the left side of my body.

Dumb, mistake number three, I didn't see anybody at the dock, so I decided to drive home, about halfway home I must have blacked out because I ran off the road and scratched up the right side of the Jeep, this could have been worse, much worse.

Anyway long story short, I'm going to be O.K., no broken bones and no permanent damage. So I consider myself very lucky.

I didn't follow my own advice, safety first and NEVER, NEVER shortcut things.

wow that sucks lou hope you and your poor jeep are ok.

I had a run away jeep with a seadoo on the back the other day. I was leaving a friends cabin at around 11oclock so it was dark my yj was parked on a hill facing down the hill I turned my lights on so I could see what I was doing wile securing the back of my xp when the stupid thing jumped out of gear and rolled 40' down the hill across the road jumped a seadoo trailer hitch and wiped out a tree the second tree stopped it some people next door come running out laughing away cause all they could here was my flipflops flapping down the road and me saying oh f#$% oh f$#@ oh f$#% like me holding the rub rail trying to hold it back was going to do anything. nothing was broke except the poor tree.

(USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DUMB A$$)

Good Lord Lou. Glad you is OK. Do you mean you were moving the trailered ski by hand? That road rash is probably nuthin compared to the whoopin Ma is gonna give ya for scratchin her Jeep.

I don't suppose ya got this on video?

Oh man Lou glad to hear you'll be ok, I couldn't imagine being dragged like that. Get Sheridan to rub some ointment on your wounds that will make it better, might even have a happy ending ;)

Lou, glad you are ok ... except for the ego of course.

Sounds kinda like a corollary to the "Oh No second", being in computer science that very small period of time in which you suddenly realize you did something really f#$%^ed up like not realizing you did a wild-card delete before hitting the "Return/Enter" key.

I think racer has a good idea there; you could probably drag out the treatment for quite a while if you whine a little.

Lou, glad you'll be OK. Although the scrapes might really start to itch once they begin to scab over

I'm with BigJake in asking "were you caught on the trailer & it rolled 300 feet?
Were you pulling it by hand and it got away from you going downhill?

Next time bring sis along.

this here almost warrantd you opening back up .....ask jake and lou ....

First, very glad you are ok. I have to think the blackout thing was an adrenalin dump. If you would have waited even 10-15 minutes after it all happened and just sat and relaxed, you'd been safer. Not saying you wouldn't have blackout, just would have been under your terms instead of while driving. Two things, this could have gone MUCH worse, I can imagine the struggle you had with the should I or should I not post about this... And second, you are not 20 yrs old anymore and it would not be a bad thing to get checked out just to be safe. Almost always things happen for a reason. If you have plugged arteries for example, it would also explain the blackout. You are a great individual and I would hate for this to be ignored if it was in fact a clue or warning to something potentially larger.

Again, very hard to post this I would think, but again, you did and there is a reason behind it,,,,

Guy's thanks for all the kind words, I went to the ER, the Doctor said the blacking out was a result of the trauma from the accident. We went to the hand specialist yesterday, the good news is the hand will heal on its own, the bad news 3-4 weeks.

Lou

Glad to hear time will heal you. You can still go boating, just have someone else do the work.

I recon it wouldn't be all that hard to switch the throttle on the GSX to the left side. Better yet, let's figure out some way to jimmy rig a foot control to your throttle cable. Wouldn't want the last month of summer to go by wasted!!

A follow up:

I finally got the ski and trailer back home, very minimal damage to the ski and trailer it fared much better than I did, no structural damage just the right side rub rail and insert, an easy fix. It looks like the mailbox saved both me and the ski.

Good to hear all is ok Lou, I'm normally by my self all the time on and off the water sadly enough, though I try making sure I always ride in populated areas.
Hope the road rash heals up quickly that stuff is a mofo, I came off a go kart once and was covered in it.

Wow Lou, sorry to hear that. That's the GSX isn't it? That 96 trim is tough to find. But a new Lou is even harder. Stay safe and get better soon.
