Hello,
I'm looking to buy a 94 seadoo sportster for a decent price. I have never owne a boat other than a kayak so very new to me. I am trying to figure out...
1. Exact length and width of sportster with trailer (small garage)
2. Towing weight, my little 4 cyl pickup has a 2000 lb tow capacity from the bumper...will that be good enough?
3. Appx cost of regular maintenance to keep it running well.

I've got more questions but those three may stop me from buying.
Thanks

Hi Al3x and welcome to the forum.

1. is it close that you can measure it....some trailer may have a folding tongue what will save space...or you can installed a new bracket that allows it to fold.

2. 2k from the bumper, I think you are risking it. boat+trailer+gas+supplies+ people in car.....probably too much for a 4 banger. Hopefully someone will chime in with then exact weight of boat/trailer.

3. depends on how you use it.....gas is getting close if not over $4 a gallon now. repairs to a 94...probably needs some TLC.
You are in florida so Salt water use I assume....spray protectant lube on engine after every use, flush it every time with fresh water, i'm sure there is more to to do than that.........

Good Luck....what's the price?

Hi Al3x and welcome to the forum.

Good Luck....what's the price?

Thank you,
It was 2k which seems reasonable. After some serious googling I found people saying their similar boat with trailer weighed about 1600lbs. Just a little three seater. Since my post this morning and after speaking to a mechanic who warned me about something so old I found a comparable boat ( same size ) but a 98 for a little more. He is measuring it for me now and as long as it fits in my garage I think I am going to try it out.

First of all, make sure the boat truly is a 94, because in 94, only 2 boats were made, a twin engine Speedster and the inflatable explorer. That is my first concern with your questions.

1. I don't know the exact size, but an educated guess would be somewhere around 18 to 20 feet long total. Width on the trailer will probably be 7 to 8 feet.

2. Dry the 94 speedster weighs in at 1200 lbs, so with fuel fluids and gear I'm guessing around 1800 so you should be safe.

3. I spend about less than 100 bucks a year to maintain a twin engine 98 speedster. Don't forget the cost of objection oil too though. It goes through a gallon every tank of gas roughly. Oil runs 30 to 50 bucks a gallon.
