I am a newb here on the forum......I am looking to see if anyone has ever dropped a triple Kawasaki into one and if so what mods needed to be done to the motor mounts or if a engine conversion plate is made for the swap. Or any other ideas that someone has done to get a few more ponies out of the ski. I like to go out to the lake and race buoys with the guys on the weekends.

Haven't seen an 1100 in one, but a lot of people have put 951s into them. It is a very "common" swap. Should be easier than a kawi

Oh sorry, I thought you had a 96 spx, not a 99. If you do the swap, pick a 96xp and let someone who will enjoy a stock 99spx. That's not a common ski. By taking a knife to one would be a major injustice.

Kawi triple swaps are becoming more common. It does take a lot of work like a custom drive shaft and glassing in new motor mount locations but people do it. You can probably Google up an old step by step conversion. Most folks do it in HX's for racing. I agree that a 99SPX should be saved.

Racerxxx, I actually have my spx and I have a gutted hull of another one. I am looking to build the second hull into a beast and keep my current one stock..ish! The current one I have was in a warehouse for over 10 years on the shelf, I took the motor out and completely rebuilt it. She now looks like she rolled off the showroom floor. The second hull or maybe another donor hull that might have all the guts is the one I wanna put the triple in. I am not sure the 951 is gonna be what I am looking for(educate me if you know better..please, That is why I am here). I wanna do some buoy racing, need the low end torque and acceleration for the buoy to buoy stuff. But I don't wanna make out an engines reliability but doing so many mods.....I would think that a triple would not have to work so hard to give me close to the performance I am looking for. But.....I am here seeking advice, knowledge, constructive criticism, and so forth. I cant be the first person to wanna do this....am I????

It sounds like you don't plan to, but I also agree - don't sacrifice a nice looking 99 SPX. That's my fav old school one!

The hull I wanna convert is empty....someone already took everything out of it. I don't wanna take my current one apart. I am understanding how you all feel on here....as I look around the different post ....I see the passion in everyone on keeping things stock. I get it.

It's not passion to keep everything stock, it's a 99 Spx. That is a unicorn to many of us and we rarely see them for sale.

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

OP, is that ski new to you.

There was one posted from Broward MS for crazy money.
Looks the same or all those seats rip in the same place.

LMK when you want to ride.
Always looking for more SFL riders!

Yes. Same ski. Ride at Markham Park on Sunday's. Race the buoys.
I did not know a SPX was so rare. How many did they make?
I may have to rethink this decision......

Its that last year and best color scheme of the X4 hulls if I remember right.
Maybe lighter too by a few hundred pounds.

Markham is North of me from 75.

Usually ride ocean. Have Wednesday early morning, Thrusday afternoon, Fridays, or early Sundays.
But we can go under bridge and ride canal through homes.

I stand corrected, I have a 96spx hull, not a 99. I don't think this will work with what you all have told me. It is the 800 motor mounts. Different than the the 720, dang!!!

If you were going to indeed cut up a 99 SPX, I was going to GIVE you a 96 XP hull to hack on to save us the pain. Since its not, hack away. LOL!:lols:

Matt.....they did not make any 800 for that ski?? That would make my day. Do you happen to know the measurements for the plate. I looked on rad dudes and they did not have any.
From what I have been told you are the man with the info.
My other question is about my 99 SPX and the pump and how to dial it in. When I do a really hard turn...like a 180* I have cavitation for a little bit. Gonna take it apart this weekend. Any advice would help.
