97 XP where are the fuel baffle sending wires (pink and pink/black)?

Opened the hood but couldn't locate them or maybe I just missed them? Can these be accessed from simply opening the hood or will I need to remove the seat? I'm trying to test the resistance between them with an Ohm meter to diagnose my fuel gauge not working. Hoping it's simply the float. Thanks!

Pop the storage cover (hood) remove the bin, look towards the back of the ski, find the 4 fuel lines sticking out of the fuel tank, locate wires, find pink wires right there. Can't miss them

Ok, I looked back there and saw the fuel lines but not the wires, probably just missed them. I'll go back tomorrow and look again. If I still can't find them I'll post a pic of the setup and maybe you could point them out...thanks!

There are only 2 wires coming from the fuel baffle and 4 hoses.

I had to repair the baffle in my 97 XP a couple years ago. Pretty sure you have to remove the seat & there is a grommet that exposes the baffle under there. Kind of a pain it the rear, but not horrible either. I can't remember it the plug was accessible through that hole of not. Hhhmmmm.

Are you trying to see why your fuel gage isn't working? This was one of the years with the fuse on the baffle PC board that can fail. I don't believe they had the sinking float problem though.

I was just trying to spell it out as clear as possible. I"thought" the hx and xp tank were similar. I "forgot" that the xp baffle may be back further. But honestly, there's only 2 wires and 4 hoses, you can't really miss the harness.

Yes it is a 97 XP. And yes I'm trying to find out why the fuel gauge isn't working. You are correct, when I open the hood their is a big white storage tray, but it can be removed simply by pulling it out to expose the engine bay. Once removed, I can see further back deeper under the steering console, but the fuel baffle is pretty far back there. That's why I asked if I would have to remove the seat?

Your right racer, you should be able to see it back there. Might be able to get to the harness too for testing. I was just commenting that to get at the baffle, there's a grommet hidden under the seat, & the seat has to be taken out to get to that. My 97's gage was inop when I got it, so I went through that process as well as replacing the goo lines...... I MEAN gas lines.....

you can maybe reach back and feel the wires on the baffle, but as far as being able to see or check anything, you're going to have to pull the seat off and pop the grommet out, which gives access to the top of the fuel baffle.

also, first time i pulled the seat i tried to unbolt the shock at the seat, its much easier if you leave the shock attached to the seat and unhook it below, loosen the boot and then you can pull the seat and shock out together.

Yep there is a 4-6" round black grommet dead center of ski under seat. Pop it out and there is your 4 hoses and pink wires at top of sending unit.
