97 XP Steering Cable Replacement

Broke the steering cable on my 97 XP. Got new one from SBT. Got it all installed but could only finger tighten the nylon nut by the jet pump that seals and secures the cable on the rear of the ski. Anyone got a trick fro tightening that nut without removing the jet pump?

I would just remove the pump and change the oil while it is out.
