Hey guyz...

Took ski out today, ran great like always, but only for about 10 minutes this time.....Underway at full throttle, and it completley died. Blew 5 fuse for first time, I checked connections, unplugged rectifiers yellow wires and red and it still pops fuse as SOON as you attempt to put it in.

Could the MPEM just be gone just like that??

ALSO I took the "bad" mpem out of my other XP and it still beeps twice, but doesn't deliver fire to plugs. I new that when i put it in my ski thats having issuses, BUT with this MPEM in the fuse doesn't pop therefore i know its not in my harness, its in the MPEM ( the one thats popping fuses).

Has anyone heard of an MPEM that still beeps twice, but doesn't deliver fire?

Thanks alot guyz......ALSO, i'll trade a Rossier Exhaust for a 787 MPEM thats works! Thanks again

On the MPEM that is blowing fuses... the main diode is roasted. It can be fixed. There is a thread on it somewhere.

As far as "no fire, but 2 beeps"... that doesn't make sense on an 800 ski. On a 720 engine... there can be issues with that since it just grounds the CDI to kill th eengine... but on an 800 engine, the MPEM actually talks to the CDI. If the "handshake" doesn't happen, then you shouldn't get 2 beeps. There may be other issues with that ski.

Xp mpem

Hey Dr Honda, thanks for the diode tip!

Yeah, the "handshake is there on the MPEM, but the funny thing is the ski thats blowing fuses has been working great until the diode roasted, but here's the kicker......

I took the MPEM that has the "good handshake" and swapped it with the one that's blowing fuses and it does the same thing, 2 beeps, but no fire to the plugs....and i know everything in that ski runs fine. It's wierd and don't make sense.

Thanks again

both the mpems are toast, bud. Atleast, the 5amp popping one, is a definate fix from, Allthingscustom.

Hello, I was just readng your post about the MPEM that would beep twice when the lanyard is plugged in, but still not giving any spark. I have the same issue, and have been told two different theorys on what's going on. Did you ever determine if your MPEM that did the handshake was bad?? Mine is driving me crazy. Everything seems to be OK. I get the two beeps, I have full gauge, and vts control, but when I crank the starter, there is no spark to the plugs. The coil and cables checked out fine, and I also replaced the stator, and pick-up coil. Could it be the MPEM is toast???

Any info on what you found to fix you problem would be great.

My mpem does the same thing, confirms beep, engines turns, no spark. I already replaced mine though. check out my thread titled not your normal no-spark, theres my whole deal. I am at the point of using the mpem just for the sake of spinning the starter and trying to locate an MSD egnition or some other option to get some spark to my plugs and get this boat going. any thoughts.
