97 GSX Weird problem...?

Hello everyone. 1st post. I have been reading up quite a bit but haven't found exactly my situation. Thank you in advance for the guidance and education.

Bought the GSX in the photo (reasonably) and no beeps, no dash / gauge activity at all.
New Battery
Fuse in ignition good
MPEM # 278 001 201 looks to have been repaired at one point, but not blowing any fuses, have 12v across all of them, even a couple of the spares.

Could it really be so simple as getting a new DESS key coded?
Ideas?

Most likely dead... You can send it to me to double check it. If it was just a key the lcd would come on when you hit the start button a few times.

OK so, thanks to ^^ Westside Powersports for helping me get it running! Very reasonable to test the MPEM and (re)program key(s). Had a successful test run yesterday on the water and it runs great!! Still no dash / gauge activity at all. No lights, no Speedo, nothing. No Beeper either. Starts right up and runs like a champ.... Ideas??
