i changed all the fuel lines(gummy). cleaned the internal carb filters(dirty). cleaned the external fuel filter(dirty). cleaned the rave valves on the head(100 hours of built-up gunge) and rebuilt the rave valve on the exhaust(bad bellow). plugs are new and i run chevron super unleaded.
the problem i'm having is starting off from a stand still. if i come to a stop and idle for a minute or so, then hit the throttle not much happens. feels as if i'm getting no fuel. i have to pump the throttle to get her to go. once it's get going all is well. seems almost as if fuel pressure has to build up before i can get on it.
i'm thinking i might need to rebuild my carbs. when cleaning my internal filters it looks as if some of the gaskets are "worn". they aren't torn or damaged, they just looked a little rough. the diaphragm looked good.
i see there are some low speed set screws. i have not touched any of these. i am pretty confident with tools, but a little nervous around carbs. i know better then to start turning screws. if it is a carb issue though, i am more than capable of rebuilding them myself. i'd just rather not try to do any tuning until i know exactly what my problem is.
everything else is running great. i'm maxing out at about 5900 rpm's according to my tach. at mid throttle the motor is powerful and responsive. most of my riding is at low to mid speeds. i like jumping waves and moshing thru the chop so i need a lot of pop. i'm doing spins and dives so i need all the low end snap i can get, as well. i've played with the rave vale adjustments a little and gotten it pretty close to where i want it, other then the stalling from idle.
so i guess my question is, "what could be causing my lag in throttle response from idle"?
thank you for any insight.
