What's up fellas as some may know I just purchased a 96 xp about a week ago I've taken it out 3 times and I love it !! One of the funnest jet skis I've ever been on...my buddy has a 06 RXP and most of the time I prefer to ride mine lol everything has gone good so far except for that carbs might need some adjusting or clean ? If I'm idling or lightly on throttle and gun it it will bog and sometimes shut off...

but that's not my question tonight I rode the ski all day no problems but when I tried to ride 2 up after 10-15 mins of trying to board the ski would not start ?? Is there a weight limit or something I might have missed ? I'm 200lb rider and about 150lb passenger it's that impossible has anyone ever rode 2up on an 96xp or similar hull??
As always thanks in advance fellas

I see you discovered what most of us X4 owners already know, even though there's room for two it's a one person ski. I can't explain why it wouldn't start with two people. Does it start now? Did you get any water in the hull?

Lou

you right on the weight limit(350 lbs) , though that wouldn't cause it not to start. i've riden 2 up on mine but was just me (200 lbs) and my gf-at-the-time( she was like 100lbs soaking wet lol). was your dess on the post tightly?

Yea the ski runs good starts up and goes but only with me on it...if I put someone else on it won't start and nope hull is always super dry and yea the key was on right I tried it multiple times and nothing ?!?

I can't think of any reason why the ski won't start with two people, I've been over every inch of that ski, could be a mercury switch, but I've never found it. Scott have you got any ideas?

Lou

Yes, the"dude" switch is GPS controlled right into the brain box. I heard you can trick it by using a wig or starting out hid under some trees.

Did it start again after the passenger got off?

As above... there isn't a reason it shouldn't start with 2 people on it.

This probably is the most politically incorrect thread to date, great work, love it.

Lou

Lmfaoo you guys are prob right ! It wasn't the n2b switch though that mother****er was backwards ! Especially on a small xp lol

Dr Honda yes as soon as I kicked my cousin off the ski started and took off !

Mayb the above post are right my ski prob doesn't like 2 dudes on it Lol

laff..

now, in all seriousness. i've ridden two up, i know i've had close to 370 lbs on my xp with no issues except we were unstable, but we made it. Its my only complaint when we take just our 3 xp's out, if somebody breaks down, one guy has to ride two up, the other guy has to tow the other ski, i try to get to the ski first and start hooking up the tow rope so I get dibs on towing :) I hate riding 2 up on my xp, you always feel like your going over.

Yea I just wanted to ride 2up with my cousin to have some fun and throw him off but I could never get it started...another question can I tow with my 96xp ? Is it recommended ?

sure,,, i've towed with it... no worries... but its probably never recommended to do on a regular basis, hard on the ski.

If you mean tow a tube, skier, or wake board, the answer is no. The law requires at least a 3 person ski for that. Driver, observer, and room for the person you are towing.

Lou

Ohh makes sense thanks Lou ! Yea I dnt wanna stress my motor so I'll just stick to 180's and water wheelies ! :) and one do 360's on the x4 or any other ski ?

sorry, i thought u meant tow another ski... otherwise lou's right , only legal when no cops around.

yes, 360's are a blast, much more fun than a 180 IMO since you can keep going in the same direction, they're not hard at all, you just let the momentum carry the back end around and if you lay off and then jam the throttle just right, you'll power out right at the 350-360 mark and you're moving again forward again. Just takes a little speed and a little practice.

I like to set my handling up like an old race boat and run it up small rivers exploring. At some point I started having fun learning more about them from the guys on here. I like tracking down all the little parts that were made to modify them and seeing what difference it makes on the ski.
