I was riding on the lake for about an hour. Had 3/4 tank of gas and fuel selector on reserve. I was doing about 35mph when engine suddenly dropped to about 10mph. made about another 1 mile when enginge quit all together. When I got it back home I was still at 1/4 tank of gas. I've been using the reserve switch for about the last 5 outings. Anyone have any ideas about what's going on?

Pull the *plug and ground it to see if any spark. Pull return fuel line off carb and crank, see if any fuel comes out.
This may help you determine if its an electrical or a fuel problem.

Thanks for the tips. The sparks are good. I'm going back to check the fuel line, however, this may be an intermittent problem.
After checking the spark plugs, it cranked right up. I guess this means its getting gas. Any thoughts?

Does it spit and sputter?

Do you have grey fuel lines?

When were the carbs last rebuilt?

Could be time for some new ignition parts.

does it bog down ONLY on reserve? it coud be overheating, I'd check the compression to make sure both cylinders are at the same PSI. If one is lower, it could be that that one was seizing and has worn itself away.
