1. Anyone know the exact hole size for the gauges used on a 96 XP? I want to use a gauge where the case is 2-1/16" diameter. Bezel is 2-1/4". Want to know if it will fit.

2. If I was to measure ONE spark plug, how many sparks would I get for one revolution (1 RPM)?

My next project is to design a tachometer circuit for a 96 XP which doesn't have a tach. Should be very simple and cost no more than $40 including gauge. I'm going to replace the VTS trim gauge since that's pointless. I'm going to use a induction based sensor that wraps around the spark plug wire.

Rpm.....?

You should be able to take a standard 12 volt RPM gage and set it up to the coil. I'm pretty sure you would get the RPM from it.

The 787cc has a wasted spark, where both plugs fire at the same time but only one ignites at a time on the compression stroke, the other fires on the exhaust.

Not sure about the size of the gage.
