Those links were good reads. Now I can go back to my friends and tell them we have more options to fix this thing ourselves. I really appreciate all the help. I hope we figure it out.
 
Yes, I grew up beside my Dad working on cars and fetching tools, he's an old 50's rodder. I caught the car flu real early in my life and never could shake it. It has been a downward spiral ever since, in a good way that is. Just plug away at it, you'll get it.

Thanks for the positive outlook racerxxx. I needed that. I'm definitely not one to give up easily on a project and I think that's why my friend brought me to help. I'm not that good at wrenching in tight places compared to my friends. They say I'm getting better and just need more practice. I'm good with computers so I try to contribute with diagrams, manuals, and obviously the collective thought power of seadooforum. I also do the buying and selling. Somebody's coming to check out the tigershark and trailer tomorrow. I hope he buys it I need cash to fix up the 30ft boat, our inflatable zodiac with 30hp outboard, and the 96 XP Seadoo. The list just gets longer and longer.
 
I know and my friends are boat and toy crazy. Between 4 of us we have 3 boats(30ft we don't know what it is with a ford engine, 26ft proline bayliner with twin 150s, and an inflatable zodiac with 30hp), 3 Pwcs(two seadoos and tigershark), 3 trailers(two pwc one boat), and 3 motorcycles. I'm the only one who doesn't have a motorcycle... :( More on the way as my friends and I are constantly trying to trade up or sell stuff for more than we bought it.

So each project has allotted funds and that's why we don't take it to the mechanic. We are spread really thin.
 
Sold the Tigershar!!! Now I can pimp my 96 XP out! Or at least get it moving along. Going to give it a good wash and wax and see how that does. If its bad I'm breaking out the compound.

Has anybody here done the LB2CAT race or just for fun o the x4 hull? I have just been reading about it because my friend and I were going to try it in our 95 and 96 XPs when we get them running. I think it might be bumpy for the small hull but we are going to plan out a day with little to no swell, use the boat as a tender, we have vessel assist and also vhf radios. the sale of my tigershark with trailer fell through. Bummed but I got a lot of other replies. It will sell soon I hope.
 
So I'm changing my jet pump oil and when I take the housing off, I noticed only one o-ring where the two water outlets connect to the housing. There was sand and Loctite all over where a o-ring should have been and clean on the one with an o-ring on it. Also need a new o-ring for the jet pump cone I think it was stretched out. It was bulging out and I couldn't put it on without it bulging and not seating properly. Figured that would be really bad to get water in there. I called the dealership and they said they had no extras would have to order them because they don't service 2 stroke seadoos so I just left and told them I would find them myself... at least they are doing my gas tank recall. there was jet pump oil in the cone when I took it off so I was happy. It was purple and didn't smell bad. Anybody out there have the O-rings I need? Minnetonka usually hooks it up but his mail is full. :( hahah. I need one of each #35 & #11 in the seadoo parts diagram under propulsion system for 96 XP.

Also put a new solenoid in and now it turns over with the start button. First press of button after replacing solenoid. nothing happened. Cleaned the key with my shirt, which I cleaned with soap and water before when troubleshooting, put the spark plug boots on the ground which I forgot before. The boots were not connected to anything on the first attempt. Then it turned over with the push of a button! You guys were right! Namely Jetskigoodies.

Now I just need the carbs, some o-rings, fuel line clamps and my carbs are being sent back tomorrow morning. :)

Ty guys for everything. Redoing some fuel lines today hopefully. Work is delayed now that I had to order O-rings. I wish my local shop had them. Maybe clean the rave valve if time permits. I was reading a how to article and was wondering if I soaked it in carb cleaner would it just wipe off? or do i need a wire brush? i have copper brushes for cleaning my guns. I know its ridiculous but I'm running really low on funds and i have brushes for calibers i don't have. especially since the stupid tigershark won't sell. Stupid craiglist people. Offering ridiculous trades and flaking on me. At least when I make a ridiculous offer, I make a cash offer. Hahaha.

Took off some decals today and they did not want to come off. Used a heat gun and it still just breaks off. The adhesive is also left behind. I just did a small section so it doesn't look terrible. Gonna get some decal remover and see how that works. Maybe get one of those decal removing wheels for the drill.
 
Should I spend extra money on a sealed battery? Just curious after buying two walmart batteries that seem to be working fine. If the sealed batteries last a lot longer I would definitely go that route.
 
My carburetor came in today serviced by Dr Honda! Almost done! No time to work on the 96 XP until Monday. Dying to try the 110 Hp beast. I was happy on the 85 Hp 717 and I can't imagine 25 more Hp. Just need to get the O-rings in the mail, buy some clamps for the fuel lines and hopefully it starts up. Engine turns with the button now but no carb in there. Compression is spot on. Crosses fingers. Busy day monday. After spearfishing in the morning I'm going to install carbs, restore fuel system, oil system drain/fill, new oil injection lines, jet pump oil, clean rave valves, replace fuel float sensor, and install inline fuel filter.

Sold The Tigershark!!!!!! $500 with trailer. Not as much as I wanted but I think I did pretty well. When I started the tigershark for the buyer it would not idle and was bogging out. It never ran that terribly before and of course it happened with the buyer right next to me. He really just wanted the trailer and I'm pretty sure he's going to part out the tigershark so he was pretty apathetic towards it running right. Sold it to a guy from Washington and he said trailers and jet skis are worth more up there.

I have all the parts to fix my XP now!!!! O-rings and carbs came in yesterday so now I have all the parts ready. Didn't get a new gasket for the rave valves hope its okay. I'm just going to use carb cleaner and a brass brush for gun cleaning to get the stuff off the rave valve.
 
Brass brush for gun cleaning? I wouldn't use that it sounds expensive, just go to your auto parts store and find a cheap wire brush or one that attaches to a drill, that is the cats meow. Also, just do yourself a favor and get new o rings and rave gaskets, they are cheap and good insurance you won't melt a rave cap and finish your day early on the lake. Don't skimp on $20 worth of wear parts
 
Its not expensive but I think I'll go the wire wheel route. I didn't know if I needed new gaskets or O-rings so I didn't buy them. The rave valves move freely and don't stick at all but I should do it right. Sigh. Looks like a couple more days until it hits the water...
 
Well there are different ways to clean them, a brush is just as fine it just takes a little longer, any old brush will do just didn't want u ruining a gun brush. You can go ahead and install it back on there and ride it, but I mean I would just go ahead and replace them. Your dealer should have all of that stuff not too more expensive than anywhere online. Check to make sure the orings aren't really hard or the raves aren't leaking if u plan on taking it out in the next few days
 
Got the 96' running today!!! Didn't get a chance to get out on the water because it was gusting 20kph and we didn't feel like doing a test run in the chop this time. Trying to get out early but I'm optimistic it will run in the water since I did all the maintenance stuff. I noticed it took forever for the oil to fill the new oil injection lines while running it. Do you guys prime it? I figured maybe a syringe but I have no idea. Anyways, I didn't I hope its okay. Just ran it for 2 minutes 3 times and now its filled. I noticed some exhaust fumes coming out of the airbox after running. My buddy wiped the flame arrestor with a oil soaked rag so I'm guessing its the oil smoking off... I hope that's it....
 
Please tell me you added some oil in the gas before you ran it...did you run it on the hose, or how long did you run it in general
