Yeah man you have to prime it by reaching down and opening the oil pump cam all the way while idling till there are no more air bubbles in the lines. All while running premix. When youre done replace your plugs.

Yeah not the best deal there. Thats a long time to run it like that...but if it was fogged or had some oil in the cases its prob ok.

My method is a small capful of oil down each carb, and start it while holding the oil pump wide open. It will fill within 30 sec.

Don't forget the bleed screw on the front of the pump first to make sure there is oil to the pump, then run at idle with the oil pump cam wide open as the others have said.

I put a little bit of oil in the engine where the carbs go before I put the carbs on. Less than a capful though probably like half a cap full. Also didn't run it for as long as I thought before. Thinking back I ran it 3 times with the hose. The first time was like 30 seconds. Died because it wasn't get fuel. Fixed the problem which was a loose hose clamp. 30 minutes late I ran it again for about a minute. Waited about 30 min while we set the idle and the oil pump. Ran it for another minute. Felt like I was running it longer because I was worried something was wrong when the oil didn't get sucked up right away and a second felt like a minute. Hope that is enough that I didn't ruin anything. The smoke smelt like clean exhaust not like rubber. I was hoping it was the oil soaked rag my buddy cleaned the flame arrestor with and it was just burning off or something.

I could barely sleep last night because I'm so worried about the XP. Going back right now to check compression and change the spark plugs. I feel so dumb I should have asked when it first bothered me. I did the same thing to the 95 XP a while ago... Compression is still perfect on the 95 but who knows what damage I have done. So stupid. Hopefully it was leftover fuel evaporating off... Wishful thinging...

Just did a compression test and everything is the same as before. Ran it for a minute, on hose, after dropping some more oil into the carbs, and now I think everything is good. What a relief. Spark plugs were pretty badly fouled.

They both ran great today. It was so much fun. First time I could really get the XPs to go as fast as they can. No speedometer but they felt really fast. We rode for about 30 miles today and no problems. Ty guys!!!! I couldn't have done it by myself. Intermittently, the speedo would work but I don't think it was working right. Doesn't really matter though because when I was going fast I was concentrating on using my legs to keep it from bouncing. If I looked at the gauge I probably would've fallen off. The information gauge works on both and I'm happy about that. Nice to know how much gas is in the tank. Now I need to fix vts and a bunch of cosmetic stuff. 787 is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgot but when I first got out the 787 would cut out at WOT. Switched it to reserve and no problems after that. We cleaned the fuel select valve really well but it was only running on the Reserve position. Cleaning it again before we go out again and hopefully we don't need a new one. Do they go bad? We used carb cleaner and air to blow it out. Maybe we didn't get it all.

There is a rubber o ring and a rubber insert inside these selectors. Carb cleaner is pretty harsh. It may have messed up the rubber insert which serves to direct the fuel to the right outlet. These selectors are not overly expensive even so.

It was awesome. As flat as it gets for the ocean around here. I can't wait to get back on them. We have to fix up the trailer lights, vts, fuel selector valve, and a new seat cover. We ripped the seat cover today on the 96 XP when we were trying to do 360 spins. also want to try and get that handlebar pad and cover on somehow. I've had it for over a month and I'm still using the styrofoam duct taped to the bars.

Nick check it out. :)

Had some cavitation issues on the 96 today. Not that bad but it wasn't jumping out of the hole. Same symptoms as the older XP before I changed the wear ring but not as extreme. Oddly, when I looked at the clearance it looked pretty tight when eyeballing. A few scratches/gouges in the wear ring but not nearly as bad as the one I replaced before. Couple dings in the impeller but so did my last one and it works great... I'll take pictures when I get the impeller out and ask you guys if I need a new impeller. I was saving for Hydroturf, vts motor, intake grate and a stripe off wheel but that will have to wait now because not enough money. First things first.

Carbon seal and driveshaft bellow thing looks good. No leaks so I don't think that is the cause of cavitation. Top end speed is still good. Faster than the 717 in top speed but not in acceleration... for now.

Buying some marine grade vinyl to redo the seat on the 96 XP. Its so heavy when it fills up with water it's ridiculous and I don't want the sponge to start ripping. Painting the hood yellow and trying the zippo fluid trick on the handlebar pad. Any tips on the zippo fluid trick? Also got a cheap eraser wheel on amazon to remove decals. Getting rid of all the pink on both of my XPs.

I tried using a heat gun. i can lift the corner but it so brittle it won't peel. Maybe I'm not getting it hot enough?

Heat decal evenly but focus heat in smaller area to start it process. Should pull off in bigger pieces.
When you heat it too much you'll see vinyl decal bubble but should pull away like rubber band until piece breaks.
Then you start over
Careful not to burn gelcote

I'll give it another go tomorrow with the heat gun. Thanks for the tips. I'm glad I didn't return the heat gun. I paid less than $10 for it so it wasn't even worth the drive.

Just went out to check on the seadoos and I lifted up the hood and the storage compartment is all beat up from the last time we went out. One of the tubes broke of the compartment and my phone was bouncing around so much it cracked the other one. I was shocked considering how hard the plastic is that it broke before my phone did. Sigh. Another day another dollar.

I have an old Iphone 3. I was just as surprised as you are. No case or cover either. We were wave jumping and the weight of the fire extinguisher broke one and the cell phone bounced around until it found a weak point. Broke right through the bottom.
