was told you have to have seadoo oil. but that doesnt sound right to me is there not aftermarket oil for that motor

You can use any API-TC certified oil of your choice. Problem is... there are very few of them left since the boating industry has gone to TC-w3 Cert. The TC-w3 oils will not work properly in your engine, and will shorten its life.

You can use the SeaDoo XPS (Synth, Mineral, or Syth blend) Quick Silver PWC, or Amsoil Interceptor oils. All of those are known to work well in our seadoo's.

Can you find out what oil was used by the previous owner? This would be best but if not sure drain the tank onto some old clothes for a campfire and flush some kerosene thru while using premix 40-1, when the kerosene is gone add 1/4 of oil which you can buy again and again - when you mix oil you take a chance on forming a gel that jams at the nozzles, mark the tank at the beginning of each season and run 5 gallons of premix until you know the OEM is drinking, then just gas and go.
