Just bought this boat. The bilge was full of water, but I was told it ran fine when last used 2 years ago.

Here's my plan;
empty the bilge
drain and replace gas with fresh
replace plugs
replace batteries
tighten port throttle lever (it's really loose)
giver her a go.

Also I need to clean the bilge with simple green or something and I think somethings missing on the deck drain. There is no ball/scupper just a rubber flap???

Is there any regular maintenance on these boats? I thought I read that there was a needle bearing on the drives.

Wish me luck and tell me what I'm missing.......you guys are the experts - I'm a rookie. First boat:thumbsup:

I paid $3k. Took the boat out this weekend for the first run. It seemed to run fine. The port tach sticks. It read 2K almost the whole time?? The fuel guage didn't work either, but it did move off rock bottom to 1/4 even though it was full so I'm thinking it's the float.

The starboard engine didn't run high on RPM. I looked at the carbs and it was not adjusted correctly. Made a change and both engines run good now judging by power - gotta fix that tach

hey I just got the same exact boat in the same exact condition.. well in march but now everything is tip top shape.

here's what I did:

1. Take heads off, clean out all the sand and everything, make sure there is no rust on cylinders. Fasten back down @ 17 ft/lbs per bolt.
2. Take both starters out, clean up all contacts and disassemble starter, clean up commutator with sand paper, blow out sleeve with pnuematic air and reassemble/reinstall.
3. Clean out both fuel filters.
4. Add new gas & a little gas cleaner. I didn't empty the gas tank and things worked out fine.
5. Pump grease into pto & drive shaft fittings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My engines are brand new & my carbs are brand new so I had no trouble pulling fuel and firing eventually after it drew enough in, but your milage may vary becuase it could be gummed up in there.
