95 bombardier help

I have been reading all the posts about 2-stroke seadoos to try to figure out my problem but don't think I have found the answer. I have a 1995 bombardier- don't know the model, title doesn't even have anything listed- it doesn't have any gauges or any extras.
My problem is the thing cranks fine and runs good until after a while (no specific amount of time) it just completely cuts off. Sometimes it is after 5 minutes, sometimes after 30 minutes. You can immediately press start button and it will crank right back up. The original safety lanyard key broke and we bought an aftermarket one. I think- but am not certain- that this problem started after we got the aftermarket lanyard. Could it be related? Someone told us it could be an ignition coil but we have no problem cranking it, even after it has sat up for a couple of weeks.
I did the thing about pressing the start button 5 times. The first time I did it I got 2 short beeps. Then DH wanted to see for himself and when he did it there were no beeps, but cranked (on trailer). Then he did it again and it gave 2 short beeps again.
Can someone help??? We have taken it to 3 different people to have it worked on, all charged a ton of money but none ever resolved the problem.

probably a bad switch on the lanyard. BUT... the prob you are describing is more common for a 96 and newer.... So, before we dig any deeper, look at the last 2 digits of your hull number. That's your year. Also... post a pic of the ski.

On a DESS lanyard (with a chip) The post can either be dirty, or the little magnetic switch inside of it is going bad. Either of those problems will do what you are describing.

The ski is a '95 per the hull number and the title. Will post pics in a few.
How can I tell if the lanyard is a DESS one? We bought the lanyard we have now at a yamaha place for about $10 b/c we don't have a SeaDoo dealer within an hour from us.

looks like a 95 SP, has the 587 motor and does not have DESS.

need a better description at when it cuts out, does it do it at full throttle? at idle? does it start back up right away or does it have to crank a few seconds?

have your carbs been cleaned lately? dirty carb filter will cause it to cut out at high throttle.

it doesn't sound lanyard related to me, the old style lanyards seem to work or not work, it's just a simple kill switch.

had carb rebuilt first thing when the problem started. there is no rhyme or reason to when it cuts off. it will do it at full throttle but also going slow. i don't think it has done it at idle. it will crank back up with absolutely no problem. it cranks back up so quickly it barely slows down most of the time. but it does seem that the longer you run it the more often it will cut off.

I would start pulling connectors apart, cleaning, and putting them back together. Sounds like it's just loosing a connection somewhere in the ignition.

OR... you have a CDI going bad. (not a common thing though)

you could try pulling the caps off the spark plug ends cut em back and put the covers back on but sounds like your coil. and i think that a 1994 580 sp by the looks top speed about 40 mph on a good day right there all the same 1994 - 1996 they change in 1997

Well, my husband decided after reading some of the posts on this forum to replace the grey fuel lines with the automotive black lines and clean the fuel selector valve. We had tons of the green goo stuff everywhere. He also cleaned the connectors. Hopefully this will solve the problem. will take it out on the lake within the next week to see.
Thanks for all the help guys!
