94 spx start issue

Has anyone every had the start/ stop buttons go bad? with the teather depressed after start as soon as you let off it shuts down, also looks like the button is jammed up like it's killing it immediately. Or should I be chasing something else? Any testing methods to isolate?

The button can go bad... but it sounds like it's working to me.

All you can do is to check over all the electrical to see why it's shutting down.
