Hello all,

My girlfriends dad recently bought two skis, a 94 xp and 94 gtx. They ran great until one took on some water in the hull ( the 94 GTX with dual carbs) that got to the carbs. He then took the carbs out and took them completely apart to clean them and reassemble them. But when he did he put all the adjustment screws all the way tight so now it needs those adjusted. Can anyone tell me how to prorperly adjust them and get this thing running again.

with both the lsa/hsa bottomed out, turn the lsa(has "T" type screw) out 1-1/4, and the hsa 1/4

Since you are a noob... let me translate...

the Low Speed (lsa) needle is the one toward the bottom, on the same side as the throttle cable. The High Speed (hsa) needle is toward the top, opposite the throttle cable.

I hope you got the water soaked engine running to dry it out within a day or the rusting will spoil your ball bearing crankshaft parts, pour a coffee shop sponn of premix gas into each hole to get some oil trickling in there and hopefully dry it out quick so the new oil sprays in where it belongs.

thanks for the replies. Yea it started after it happened. just definatly didnt like to stay running. Ill give it a try when I get off of work today.

Ok well with 1 1/4 turns on low speed and 1/4 on high speed I can get it to start but it stumbles and runs rough for a few seconds then shuts off. I have no idea where to put the idle screw at and the intake filter assembly is off for all of this incase that makes a difference. When it runs it spits out smoke from the carbs and a light mist of gas comes out.

I will also add that when he rebuilt the carbs the entire assembly came out including the bottom area part. I think it was oil injection. But he marked where it was and is 99% sure it went back on in the same spot.

I adjusted the idle screw to where it just barely opens the flaps. I got it to run for 6 seconds. I need to choke the motor and turn it over for atleast 8 seconds for it to start. THen it does and misses and cuts off. It has compression on both cylinders too.

cant "dial" it in, with air filter/flame arrestor off.

If he pulled the intake manifold off to remove carbs, I bet the rv stuck to it and then he just installed it, not think'n it needs to be timed correctly..?

if your talking about the gears, he made marks on them with a sharpie and put it back where it came off at. But I am not saying he did it perfectly. I also forgot to say that the oil injection is broken so it has been premixed in the gas tank. Ran fine like that before all of this happened.

Ok so today i messed with it for awhile. Me and a few friends drained out the tank and put in new gas. When you pour gas into the top of the carbs it starts but it still stutters and it wont rev up like it should. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check the rotary valve's timing. That's very important. If that checks out... make sure the fuel lines aren't clogged, and then take the carbs apart again.

Just an FYI. In one of your posts above... you say that the butterfly is just bearly open. Normally, they need to be open a noticeable amount. Out of the water, your idle will be 3000 rpm's.

ill open it a little more next time im am out there. Can you explain the rotary valve timing to me please. Like how it works. We are pretty sure we got it back on in the same place it came off of
