6mph river speed

I have a 2008 gti, and it doesn't like to go slow. Like all PWCs, the throttle is really sensitive at the low end. Does anyone have any good tricks going river speed - maybe 6mph? Trying to get the throttle at about 6mph is very fatiguing. Maybe using a wedge in the throttle lever, or using a tie?
I know more recent models have cruise control to address this.

If nothing else, you can get a Sea Anchor. They are specifically designed to slow boats down..
This way you can give it a bot more throttle but not accelerate due to the drag. I'm thinking htis would allow you to get past the low end sensitive area of the throttle...

What do you mean "it" doesn't like to go slow. You mean..."you" don't like to go slow. Dunno what the water cops are like where you are...but "no wake" here means no wake. Does the cruise control work at such a slow speed?...I wouldn't think so.

What you're really asking for is a way to increase off throttle speed. My ski cruises off throttle at 4.1-4.5mph...faster than most...but barely. You wanna get yours to 6mph.

I suppose you could epoxy a small "C" shaped spacer around your throttle cable at the trigger.

My 09 RXT-X with no mods idles at 5.7 MPH.

The simple fact that it DOES idle well, I simply don't touch my throttle. If I touch it even the slightest amount it goes to 7 mph. So I can see how a ski can idle at 6 mph or so. If it is a MPH thing, then 6 is truly feasible at the slowest speed the ski produces. If it is a wake thing, then it could be that the ski goes to fast at idle. Mine is so borderline its not funny. As I normally do not travel the rivers I have no issues, but if I did, mine may go to fast for the area even at idle..

I'm with these guys. If you are in a "No Wake"... then it's idle speed only. I can't tell you how many times I've see guys holding 10% power in a no-wake... and yes... they are going slow... but they are pushing a bigger wake than if they were doing 50 mph.

No-wake isn't a set speed. It's as slow as your boat can go.

Now... if we missed your point... sorry... and enplane what you are trying to do.

we have both signs here on the Rivers, NWZ and 5 mph. depending on direction of the current I usually throttle to 2300 to maintain the 5 mph speed limits. It`s nice how this boat hardly makes any wake at any speed compared to I/O`s and different hull types... we do get some pretty big boats idling by that will rock your socks at the bulkhead...

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
The river I use has official signs posted at 9km/h (I'm in Canada), but there are some home-made signs on the river that say "no wake" (by home-made, I mean cardboard written with magic marker). My seadoo is from the US, so the speedometer is in mph.
Where I am, there are several lakes separated by river passages. If I wanted to travel by river, the difference between 2mph and 6mph can be a couple hours.
By "it doesn't like to go slow", I mean squeezing the throttle half an inch at the bottom increases from 2mph to 8mph. To hold it at 6mph would be very fatiguing after a short period.
I know it's not meant for this sort of thing - I just wanted to know if anyone had any good tricks, so I can increase my area of use.

I think you are asking how to hold the throttle at a "slow speed" for a long time without fatigue....3 tips.
1.Try using a medium size rubber band that increases the throttle just above idle speed....but will not allow you to have full control of speed
2.Try adjusting your carb idle up a bit to maybe 1800, then just use that speed and hand off the throttle lever while going through "No wake" zones"
3. Install a finger throttle kit so you are not using your thumb.

I put cruise on my 2011 gti, it has "slow mode". You hit a button and set it from 1-5, 5 is about 7 mph if I remember correctly. No throttle input necessary. I love it.

My friend has an 05 wake 155, he bought some shims from home depot and cut a few pieces out of it (of a size he figured out), he puts them in between the trigger and the housing to hold it on 6 kts

if your concerned about your speed and wake in a no wake area i just pull up my reverse lever and slow it down works great if your not going to far. both my skis are 09 models.
