Have '94 XP with 657x.

I can get the Bombardier XPS mineral oil and the Quicksilver fully synthetic oil for the same price. Which oil would be best?

Thanks

Both are api-tc and full synthetic plus you don't have raves so either would be fine.

:agree: Since there is no advantage in using full synthetic in your ski I think I would use the XPS mineral.

welp

this will be a can of worms, but...

even if not 'required' wouldn't the full synthetic have a chance of making it last longer?

It stands to reason that the synthetic holds up better under the more demanding 951, so if you use it on this engine, wouldn't it help it hold up better as well?

what about the smoke output? I like how my sea-doo barely has any 2 stroke smoke out the back while many yamaha and kawi's ride away in a plume of smoke... mine looks much cleaner.

A quote from the movie Full Metal Jacket, (I think), "there's nothing like the smell of 2-stroke in the morning."

Seriously, here's my thinking. Castrol has been making lubricants for SeaDoo's like forever, I'm thinking there is probably more consistency in the SeaDoo XPS products than from Quicksilver who is likely to take the lowest bid from a supplier. However I do use Quicksilver Full Synthetic API-TC in my three ski's, even in the 720 which doesn't require it.

engine

I run whatever the stupid manual says. Because then at no point do I have to worry about did I run the right oil (XPS-II in my case).

Ohh, and as for 'changing' oils, some of the oils, when mixed, will gel, clogging the oil lines and starving the engine for oil....

and no one likes to run out of lube mid-job... it's just not fun....

2 things to consider....

1)PRO: If they are the same price... the synth will offer more protection.

2)CON: You shouldn't mix them. SO, if you switch, you need to clean out your oil system, and refill it.

The "CON" isn't really that big of a downer since it's good to service and clean the oil system once in a while. SO... if it hasn't been done, it's a good time to replace the filter, and the small injector hoses.

just my thoughts. (without an oppinion ;))
