Hi all,
I am considering either the 2012 GTX 155 or the 2012 GTI 155 and am hoping someone here can offer some advice. first, I am looking at these two options as they are in my budget range and I am staying away from the supercharged machines. I have been on the GTI 130 recently and was impressed, but want a little more horsepower, hence the 155. I got the 130 to 55mph, and figure the GTI 155 would likely get to 60mph. the GTX is a nicer machine having the S3 hull and a bit heavier, so it may or may not get to 60mph?? Does anyne have the 2012 GTX 155? hoping you can help...thanks

Hi KevinLab010,

I'm just about to purchase my first ski and am also looking at the 2012 GTX 155, I wanted the S3 hull as well which only left me with this one but I like the look and the features of it. Thinking of a adding a retractable ski pole for towing onto it.

i rode a 2011 GTX 155 s3 hull, no suspension, takes the waves like a champ, i think the new speedo's are gps right, on glass it said 55mph but mostly ran in 50-52 range. IF you want a smooth riding dry ski this is it. sport and touring mode are nice but i rode sport 100% of the time, touring is for old people or noobs.... My personal opinion is go supercharged if you want more speed then the 130, it surely will put a bigger smile on your face. I often ride a 2008 gtx limited 215hp, rides choppier then the s3 and doesn't carve as well but is more wet and more fun. I like to ride like a maniac, spinning and jumping so my 96xp is my clear choice for fun, the gtx 215 the family cruiser. BTW the 155gtx at wide open throttle was reading 9gph burn which is pretty good.

I know you mentioned that you want to stay away from the supercharger, but here is my view.

I own two skis. RXT-X 255 and GTX 155.

GTX rides like a caddy and the RXT is like a BMW. I LOVE my 255 hp. I will never own another ski without that kind of power.

It is so nice to go 40 or 50 MPH and the engine is barely working compared to the GTX going 50 and it is not to far from max RPM and Speed..

So, you can maintain the supercharger or do rebuilds sooner on the 155 as it is likely you will run at near 80 to 90 percent of it max at most times???

agreed what is said above..... bottom line is your going to get bored of 155hp.... every 100hrs you do the supercharger, no biggie, besides if you want to go faster you can upgrade at that point, i've never heard anyone in the waverunner world that wanted to downgrade power.... both 4tec motors are very durable, and SC models from late 2006 had the solid valves, and 2008 had a better supercharger IIRC.... MY other opinion withe power is the larger these ski's keep getting (new gtx is 12ft long) plus better they take chop you need to power to increase the fun factor. My 110hp 96xp is 8ft long and is much more of a thrillride then a new 155 or even 215 ski......
