Good afternoon!

I'm very excited as I have just acquired a 2008 RXP-X 255 with only 35 hours! The exterior looks brand new. The hull is not too bad except for 2 chipped and lots of small scratches.

As you can see from these two picture:

You see lots of fiberglass where it sucks the water.

Is this a huge concern or should be fairly easy to get repaired ?

I was thinking to bring it to get it gealcoat repaired ?

I still bought it because the PCW is in brand new condition, low hours and everything seems to be running smoothly. However I am just a bit concerned about the hull ?

Also, as for the scratches, how easy is it to get them repaired ?

Thanks!

If you can see the fiberglass it needs to be fixed before it sees water again. Fiberglass sucks up water and expands further cracking the gel coat turning a small issue into a bigger issues. Looks like only a small spot is actually showing fiberglass so it should be easy to fix. You can take it to a shop and pay them to do it or you can get some black gel coat and brush it on to cover the damaged are then sand it flush and polish. I had similar damage on mine from a underwater boulder I didn't see till I felt it. No big deal.

Also to add to KK it is in a spot where you can use a regular 1 ton engine lift, and hoist the back up then use acetone to clean the area that needs fixed. paint on gel coat. let it dry for a day and then rough sand most, then move to finer and finer paper all the way to 2000 grit. then you can polish it shiny with scratch doctor from advanced auto parts. it is a orange tube looks like a short tube of tooth paste. it is a wet rubbing compound that will clear out all the scratches and can also be used to clean up the rest of the hull. buy your gel coat at west marine and add color. It is quality gel coat and will bond good.
