2008 GTI se155 cluster repair??

I recently found a 2008 GTIse 155. No issues other than a dim display (which is still readable). Has anyone had any experience repairing those cluster displays . I was hoping it would be like later model years where all that was needed was polarizing film .

Nope, can't replace film but you can buy a new china cluster for $280

Thanks. I have been communicating with a seller on ebay. He has a 2007 GTI 155. Would that work? I know I would need to marry it with my Candoo, But is the flash compatible?

Generally the year is the most important part so you'll need to flash for the MY2008 model with buds before you marry with candoo. I've seen some years work fine with other years but not usually.

I have a 2007 and been needing to replace the cluster. Have done a lot of research on the subject. The 2007 GTI is a animal of it's own. The part # for a 2007 is 278002217. It fit's nothing else. AND....nothing else fit's it. A lot of people with aftermarket stuff say they will work, but if you ask true SEADOO guys, they say only OEM clusters work as they should. They gauges and light work with the aftermarket ones but as far as CODES and warnings, they don't. And most aftermarket clusters don't clock the hours. I just spent over $800 for a OEM gauge cluster, and that hurt. But at least I know I got the correct one. There are aftermarket ones for less then $200 on ebay and amazon. They come from China and Brazil. Go to Seadooparts web site and check part #'s , you'll see what I mean. 2008 GTI has a different part # from a 2007-I don't know what the difference is but they are different. Also, I don't know if they can be flashed to work- that's something you would have to ask a dealership. Good luck.

They are wrong. Have used many China clusters on 2007 models including one I owned personally in Florida for a couple years and they all work perfectly once they are flashed and married with BUDS. I had several fault codes and they all showed up just like an oem cluster. The problem is that the sellers are telling people they are plug and play and they are not but they do take the flash and after they are married they work fine.

The part # for a 2007 is 278002217. It fit's nothing else. AND....nothing else fit's it.

This is also not completely true. The 2270 was made by seadoo as a universal replacement for several model years and spelled out clearly in the manual to flash and marry. It works fine on the 2007 GTI but does have the compass in the middle but will be blacked out. Have installed lots of these over the years as well from 2006 and up models and works well.

They are actually replacing the entire LCD screen which is why it costs more than buying a new China cluster.
