I'm thinking about making an offer on this ski.

http://lexington.craigslist.org/boa/3302826895.html

I know a lot, probably more than most about 2-stroke SeaDoo's, but very little about 4-tek's. So I'm looking for some guidance on purchasing a 4-tek ski.

I'm looking for a winter project and I thought this ski (for a 4-tek) is about as simple as it gets. The questions I have are:

1. Is this a good price and what would be an appropriate offer?

2. What do I need to look for? What's the normal compression for a 4-tek?

3. And I guess anything else you could tell me that would be helpful.

Thanks,

Lou

If you like guides any NADA shows it at $3650 without a trailer for average retail. No phone number but maybe he will reply.

I am a little late to reply on this one...but I too bought a 2007 GTI SE 155 in August of this year from a friend. The ski has 81 hours on it and it was immaculate...always maintained. I paid $3700 for it without a trailer. I think this was a very good price.

I was only able to get it into the water once before winterizing it as I needed to take a the boating class here in NY beforehand. The ski has plenty of power for me that's for sure. Handles great and was a lot of fun.
I did all the winter maintenance myself and found it very easy.
1. changed the oil and filter...used my oil extractor
2. changed plugs...got the plugs at Advance Auto for cheap
3. changed antifreeze...50/50 premix Prestone
4. oiled the cylinders...BRP stuff
5. put RV antifreeze in the lines, again, real easy

Got the owners manual and service manual on line.

I did not go to the extent of a compression test...the ski ran really well and I had it up to 52MPH with no problem and it still had lots left.

Overall impressioon the the 4 TEC...well made and plenty powerful and very easy to work on for general maintenance.
Hope this helps
