have a 2006 RXP with less than 100 hours on it. Never had any issues with it. We live in WI, so only get to use it about 3 months out of the year. Last year we sucked up a rock, and had to bring it in to a dealer. Ever since then, the ski has not been running right. We brought it in last labor day weekend, so really didn't get to run it until this spring. Noticed a few things as soon as we got on it. The display now has the direction you are heading on it, rather than just saying "SEA DOO". Also, the top speed is only about 55. Normally, it will max out at 69. Also noticed that the normal pick-up is not there. The engine runs fine, but it's like the super charger isn't there.

That's when we noticed that the key was not the same. Our normal key is yellow, and the one they gave us was white. My dad didn't notice at the time, so never said anything. We called the dealer we had dropped it off at, and they guy tried to tell us the ski is in "rental" mode, and we were using the "rental" key. We said we didn't have a "rental" key. We had the yellow one, and our learner key (which was still hanging on the key hook).

We dropped the ski off at the dealer again, and the guy reprogrammed a new key for us. It was supposed to have solved all our problems, but after taking the ski out this weeked, it is still doing the same thing. Only goes 55, and it is missing it's signature pick up speed. Starting to get very frustsrated with it.

This whole thing seems kind of shady. Is there such thing as a "rental" key? If so, would the key be located inside the machine somewhere that we wouldn't have known about it? I don't want to start bad-mouthing this dealer, until I get all the facts straight.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Sounds like they programmed the new key wrong also. After they get it right I'd consider an new place to get it serviced.

Yes there is a Rental key.

Works pretty much the same as a beginner key.

I would take it back as well as it was not like that when you took it there,,,

Is it your ski? I know silly question but it's possible? Stupider things have happened...well maybe not. Once you lose trust with your dealer, your imagination gets into overdrive. Well, mine does anyway.

Are your rpm's there? does everything else seem normal accept acceleration? Could it be the pump instead?

When it sucked up a rock, what happened exactly? Did it lock the pump and strip the drive shaft or pto and they replaced it and not the impeller? Or did they replace a bent impeller? Or did they Remove a small rock and replace a damaged wear ring but leave in a bent impeller? Or did they simply remove the rock and leave a bent impeller in there with a damaged wear ring that is now cavitating?

A lot can happen to a pump so I was thinking they missed something since they obviously lost your key. In fact, when you go back, if they still can't find your original key, I would make sure they deprogrammed the lost one.

If they didn't screw up the key programming the second time is guess something is still damaged from that rock and they over looked it. Either a wear ring or impeller. What RPMs are you turning at wide open throttle. If you're seeing something around 8000 and you're going 55 then there's a pump issues for sure.
