Hi, im new to the site so I would just like to say hello! I am new to PWC's and I am looking into buying a 2005 RXP with 80 hours on it. This would be my first one ever, anything I should be worried about and should ask the guy? Any idea on how much I should spend for it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

Two places you can is kelly blue book (KBB) or NADA.com for estimated value.
Just like a car you can negotiate with the seller.
Make sure they have a good title on ski and trailer if included. Paper work if serviced at a dealer, ask him which one too.
Being in Florida you must take it for a test ride and check under the seat for any possible leaks.
Does it have cavitation issues?

ask about if the sc has been rebuilt and it's easy to check, ask about oil changes, how often and who did them, ask about saltwater use and if they flush it after use, make sure you ride, it should read 70 mph on the speedo in good water. check oil, it should look brand new in color. check for corrosion inside and out. This time of year it's worth about $5500 imo.

the 05s are known to have some component failures. the main ones being: flywheel bolts shearing off, dropping valves, ceramic supercharger clutch washers exploding and ruining your engine. IMO $4000 give or take $500 is a starting point. I would bring a compression gauge and definitely get a full and detailed history. Buying 08 and older is really a shot in the dark if you can't trust the seller.

I almost forgot a very important note: make sure to check underneath the ski to inspect the bottom of the hull. intake grate inserts and full hull delaminations are relatively common. Any chips down to the fiberglass will need repair if you plan on not having to adapt your newly purchased seadoo into a multi-thousand dollar flower garden display on your front lawn
