Hey guys, so i just picked up a 2003 gtx sc. I got it from a marina and that being said they just did the supercharger, replaced the wear ring and replaced the impeller with a used but good conditon replacment
So my top speed is no problem 60-61 mph depending on conditions. The problem im having is when i pull a wakeboarder, it will pull them out but it takes a bit and the rider really has to muscle it out. Am i wrong in thinking that @ 185 Hp the rider should get out of the water no problem?? is i possible they put in a impeller from another model, even though im getting good top speed?
Big THANKS!!!

One was 205 lbs and Tue other was 135 lbs. I also tried with and without a spotter and no difference...

That's kinda to be expected, I'm assuming if its just you on the ski its hauls just fine?

Yah not surprised to hear that ... Ive used a ski to pull ppl around hole shot sucks but once there up its better. U may want to consider a skat trak impeller ive heard these impellers can improve on this problem.

the 2003 had the crappy plastic pump that will flex under load, that is your problem. get an 04 aluminum one and the problem will be gone.

the 03 will also eat wear rings up due to the flex, sd tried to put a bandaid on it by adding the metal pump bracket on the right side but it didn't work. when they were under warranty, sd would replace them if you complained enough.

I have read that and was planning on a swap out over the winter. Thought it was cause for pre mature wear, didnt know it effected performance.
Thanks

I've had similar issues pulling skiers. Once up and running, everthing is fine. As long as the skier is strong enough to hold onto the rope during the first 8-10 seconds of severely slow cavitation, then they will be able to get up. The lighter the skier the better of course. I'm thinking that there will have to be an aluminum pump in my future.

Once you get an Al pump, you'll rip skiers arms out of their sockets. night and day difference.

78-112A-01K, it's the 04 GTX SC version which is aluminum, they don't make a plastic version which would technically be for your 03.
I can give you about 20% off so your price will be $325 plus shipping. It comes complete with wear ring, bearings, shaft, seals, etc. just put your impeller on and you're ready to go and no more cavitation.

Oh, boy, now you got me thinking hard. Might have to have a talk with the wife tonight.

ETA: Thanks for the offer too!

Reminds me of a story....

Once upon a time there was a new RXT owner. He had agreed to show his visiting family that, "yes. it's strong enough to pull a skier." Well...after getting the skiis to line up at his shoulders...get the rope to stop twisting and lay straight out from him to the ski...he tells his wife...when I say "hit it"...hit it.

Now..he wasn't the best skier in the world...far from it...only been a dozen times in his 45+ yrs...but he figured like riding a bike...he'd get up...go once around the cove and turn it over to those who really wanted.

Wishing his wife had a more consistant hand on the reverse lever so that she could just barely keep tension on the rope till they were lined up perfectly....the time had come.....HIT IT!.

She turned away and squeezed down on the throttle...the ski's nose came up..the spotter's eyes got big as the rope popped outa the water and....slow motion...the ski was taking forever...knees hit arm pits...he leaned father forward hoping his feet would get on top of the water...when all of a sudden...he was up... and then he was flying...literally.

He was launched out of his skiis...still holding onto the rope....after what seemed like forever..he let go...and crashed awkwardly into the lake. He was alright....he was breathing...his body wracked with spasms of fleeting pain. On his back...waves lapping against his head...he could hear the raucous laughter of his attending audience. He raised his arm in the unversal sign that he was alright and said to his lovely wife....35 baby....just don't go past 35.....ugh.

I have seen this exact thing happen both with boats and jet skis.

It never gets old, enjoy it every time.. :)
