2003 Seadoo GTX SC only runs for 10 minutes

Ok, so I have a customer that has a 2003 GTX SC. It will start and run flawless on the trailer and when we put it in the water, it runs perfect for about 10min then bogs down and quits. It'll try to start back but won't come back. It can sit there for about 30-45min and fire right back up and do the same thing. I was hoping for a bad fuel pump, so I replaced it but nothing changed. Any idea what else to try?

I honestly can't think of anything else so that's why I posted here. Hoping to get some seadoo expert opinions. I'm a yamaha guy lol. Do you think if I sent the MPEM to be tested it would show that issue? I have another to send off next week anyway.

Have seen bad mpems do that on the early 4tecs.
I second this, bad ecu.

You can use a spark tester to see if you have spark whilst cranking, i'd wager spark is lost once the computer mpem heats up parts expand and a bad solder joint reveales itself.

Good luck!

Check for exhaust leak in the hull.

I've seen this a few times....ski starts right up, runs great for a bit, then the hull fills with exhaust fumes and chokes the engine out.

Next time, ride it without the seat and see if the problem reoccurs.

Yeah that could certainly do it. I asked him if there was smoke in the engine compartment and he said it wasn't but I better double check lol.

When I've seen this, there was no "smoke".

Check all the exhaust hose clamps and look for cracks in the hoses.

But the real test is if it does it again, remove the seat, let it air out for few minutes and see if it runs normally.

So I tested it again and there's no smoke in the hull. It did throw a oil sensor switch code so I replaced it. I just ran again and it never cut off within 5 to 10 minutes but it is making a crazy popping sound around a quarter throttle under load it doesn't do it at idle or full throttle. I've tried to attach videos but it's not allowing me to.

Ok just ran it again for about 10 min and it started intermittently cutting out but never went limp like before. Its still throwing a sensor code, low fuel, and communication error. The lcd screen is going nuts and speedo randomly goes in and out lol. I hate seadoos lol! I'm not getting any water from the 2 tiny blue and yellow bypass fittings on the starboard side. I'm am assuming one should be water and the other maybe a vent for something. I'm guessing this could still be a ECU issue and also a bad board on the gauge cluster. I just had the lcd replaced for him.
