I am tired of replacing engines after 20 or so hours. SBT told me this engine should have been recalled long ago. I love the ski but I am done with the 2 stroke mills.
Does anyone know if a 4 stroke and be swapped for this 951?
Thanks so much

Anything can be done with enough money and time. You'll be much better off just to buy a 4-tek ski.

Thanks Lou I was afraid of that but makes total sense. Real shame all those hulls out there with no power. Replaced other DTX with Yamaha and zero problems. SeaDoo has walked away of their old customers but they will never get me back.
Hoping to get her going for grand kids

The 2003 DTX DI was a bad idea, the 951 was not a real reliable motor to begin with, and then adding the direct injection was another bad idea. If you decide to stay with SeaDoo get something with a 787 and carburetors. I think you would find this a much more reliable solution. If it were me I would just sell the one you have as is, or part it out.

Appreciate it Lou. I found out the hard way that it was design after second STB engine. They laughed all the way to the bank. 63 hours on original engine, 21 on the STB and of course 2 months out of warranty.
Thanks again Lou.

Yep... what he said.

If you get an new engine for that ski... get the engine with the longer warranty. Also... what kind of oil are you burning? The 951 doesn't have a long life... but it should get into the 200 hr range.

Only use See Doo and on the SBT ran oil gas mixed as well as oil injection and still dropped rid or main bearing. Not sure. Hard knock lower rear. Had two of them and neither one made it over 70 hours before dropping the engines. Dam shame because I like the ride, more stable than Yamaha. But 2007 Yamaha 4 stroke has over 100 and ZERO Issues.
