Starter is out it look ok, pulled jet pump spins free. Guess need engine , so do I do my self? Or give to local guy last one he did came out good complete rebuild new crank $1400

Does that price include installation?

Pull the head off and look for any obvious debris. Then if you want, pull the cylinders off. Reguardless if you fix or replace it you would be able to reassemble easily to trade it in or youll find something obvious while your takng it apart.

OK Give me some ideas on the best way to get the PTO off crank shaft, engine still in ski.

Slide a few feet of rope in the spark plug hole of the rear cylinder and put an impeller tool in the pto and spin that bad boy off

So here it is out of ski with head off, broke two head bolts, hope not hard to get out. Looks to me like the water jackets in the head so plugged with salt, engine over heated Is my guess, comment please!! What's my next step to repair this ?? Thanks

I am betting you are going to find a bad rod bearing, usually when they frre and lock up like that at least one rod is damaged.

Spin it over counter clock wise feels ok one slight hard spot. Spin it clock wise feels like it's tightening up or winding up. Maybe it's me ? I will get exhaust manifold and jugs off see where we're at

Happy spring all ! Removed front cover, cylinder jugs and some small stuff too some pics.

Pretty sure a piston rod is not supposed to stand straight up on its own lol. So new crank.? Rebuilt one ? Best way to get flywheel off crank? Other question is stator cover has fuel lines running into it, four bolts on a cover (broke one) what is under that cover ? Filter? Thanks for all your help gentleman

Honestly if you can do it yourself you will be better off but no warranty.
SES doesn't have the best history around here. And SBT is not your engine but one off a shelf with sometimes questionable builds. Most of the rebuild "shops" are just a warranty not exactly a top quality rebuild. It all depends what you are looking for.

Thanks Miki , I guess I will press on rebuild myself, least I will know what is in there. Now question who's got the best parts around? Use all new no rebuilt? The PTO is loose however I can not get fly wheel off? Thanks again

You will need the special puller for the flywheel. I think it is like $20.

If it were me I only use OEM engine parts. You can usually score OEM pistons on ebay for a good price.
For cranks you can beat OEM and when you factor in shipping the cheap ones like SBT end up being almost the same. The key is finding a local Seadoo dealer that wont get you on core and shipping charges.

WSM piston kits are ok but I still prefer OEM.
I have had good luck with the WSM gasket kits too.

I would rebuild your balancer and rotary shaft while you have it apart too.

For cylinder boring I have used FullBore and Group K but I prefer Group K.
