hoping to find out how to test ignition system 2000 gti.weak spark then completely loses spark.items already checked batt good, fuses, all grounds, new plugs, all connectors, engine cranks good, thinking possible ignition coil or trigger coil? thanks in advance

Welcome Mrquad1,

Make sure battery is 100% charged and will pass a load test. (free at most auto part stores)
One thing you can do is to clip the plug wires off 1/4 inch and then reattach the boot with zip ties. sometime the tips will get corroded after several years.
Wait for other replies about the coil.

:agree:
i was having a crappy/intermittent top end, with momentary cutouts, and sometimes it wouldnt even plane out..did what SDB mentioned above, and it fixed my problem...
not saying its your fix, but i'd do it anyway if i was u...specially if you havent in a while

MQ1 - you have 5 Seadoos, what took you so long to join?........LOL

You must have loads of techie questions ready for us....shoot away.

batt load tested good, probably should have stated that this is a no start condition, good fuel delivery, great compression.noticed that upon initial cranking with plugs out and grounded on cycl head spark seems weak then after a few seconds no spark.looking to find out wich wires to test elec components and values.thanks for the replys.

ocod - I followed your link. I'm looking for the test for a 96 GTX 787, I didn't see one on the charts.

The last machine that had intermittent spark was the MPEM...although it was a 93 580.

I would crank till it has no spark, then get out your test light and touch it to the white wire that goes into the coil and see if the stator is working. If that lights up fine its the coil, but if it doesnt light its wiring, MPEM or stator.
