2000 GS Hull/Deck seam

I have determined I have a small leak in the aft section of the hull/deck seam under the rub rail of my 2000 GS. I am in the process of drilling out the rivets to get access to the seam. Any recommendation as to the cleaning (out the old sealer) and what to use for new sealer (3M 5200?).
