Hey everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my 96 xp this year and i know nothing about the 4 stroke Seadoo engines.
I'm looking at a 2006 RXP with a riva stage one and a few other mods. the hours are scaring me but i know nothing about how long the 4 strokes last. the doo has 336 hours on it but the supercharger has been rebuilt. that seems like a shit ton. its selling for 6000 CAD. should i pursue this or drop it? any tips on 4 strokes would be much appreciated as well.

thanks in advance

4-Tech engine s can easily get into the thousands of hours. 300 hours is nothing,,,

Unless I did a ride and drive as well as a compression test I would NOT buy a modified ski. They are normally ridden much harder. Which is like saying instead of 300 hours you should think it has 600,,,

2004-early 2006 had Sodium Filled Exhaust Valves. They fail easier than solid core. If they have not been replaced then you are looking at an additional expense. I would recommend an 08 and newer as they have no consistent issues. I own an 09 RXT-X and a 2010 GTX. LOVE them both.

welcome to the movement !

I purchased a used stage 1 but I felt pretty good about the seller, even then I had to invest another 800 in getting it ready for more years of riding.

Compression and test ride are very important for sure.

But don't shy away from stage 1, its a $1300 mod !!! < and its awesome

if this makes you feel any easier on the buy, I also just recently swapped from 2 stroke to 4. purchased an 05 RXT with a little over 300 hours. previous owner put a lot of money into replacement parts and such. took it out and it runs great, motor is still strong. price seems a little high maybe you could offer 5K?
