2 stroke ban

lake mead here in vegas is supossed to ban all 2 strokes in 2010??? i was wondering if this is really possible and if it is ,can i convert or swap my twin rotexs to a 4 stroke setup and how much can i expect to spend??? anyone have suggestions or a swap brewing? mine is a 1999 speedster with around 80 hours, bimini top,fish locator,stereo with ipod setup,custom graphics fresh tuneup--$700.00 worth and the mechanic says both motors are running around 150 lbs compression.love the boat but need to conform to uncle sam.

Maybe we can get a government funded "cash for 2 stroke" program going? :rofl:

On a more serious note, I don't think it's possible to convert a 2-stroke into a 4-stroke. I'd be pitching a fit to anyone that woud listen.....people can drive around a H2 that gets 5mpg, but they are more worried about 2-stroke watercraft? Please.

2 stroke ban....

The reason for the 2 stroke ban is oil. The 2 stroke motors, except our Rotax, all put a sheen of oil on top of the water.

No, you can't change your motors to 4 strokes. If you could, you might as well buy a new boat. The only 4 stroke motor Rotax has is the 4-TEC. Several different horsepowers but all the same design. You'd likely spend anywhere from $3,500 to $5000 for the motor. Then, you'd have to gut your electrical system and replace it with one that would support the motors....

Here, on Big Creek Lake, they banned all boat motors. But, I can understand since it feeds our drinking water supply.......:ack:
