2 questions about changing pump oil

I have a 95 gtx.

QUESTION 1: I just changed jet pump oil. The filling screw on mine is on the left of the cone about half way up. How do you get something in there to fill it. The seadoo oil is in a small bottle with a nipple but there is no room to angle it it. Should I use a syringe?

QUESTION 2: I have a seadoo service manual and in the detailed instructions it says to torque the 3 screws on the cone 70 inch pounds. I did that and it wouldn't reach torque - instead it cracked the cone at every slot. So I went back to the torque specs at the back of the manual and it says the GTS has those specs but the GTX is half that or 35 inch pounds. So I bought a new cone and torqued it to 35 inch pounds. Is that right or was there a problem with my old cone and it should really be 70 inch pounds? and no I did not torque to 70 foot pounds haha.

Please enlighten me

The filling hole is supposed to be at the top right. I always poke a hole in the bottom of the bottle and pour it in.

When you took the cone off how much water came out? For some reason this year i had a good amount of water running out as i started unscrewing the bolts.

the picture in the service manual shows it on the left. the same in the seadoo Clymer manual. and that was where it was when I took it off. maybe it is on the right on newer models?

Like Chester said, it should be on the top right on most of the 90s models. You need to rotate the cone. I always just tighten the bolts until tight. You don't want to crush to plastic too much. If it cracked it's definitely too tight.

I respect the knowledge that both Chester and WhiskeyD have but why would the service manual and the Clymer manual show it different. Seadoo changed the cone in 1996 and I understand that is when it went on the right. I could rotate it but then it would have a higher fill level and more oil would go in. I can only assume it was set up this way originally (on the left) for a reason.
I have already installed it with Loctite 518 to make a gasket. If I take it off and rotate it can I clean that off the o ring or do I need a new oring

I'm not sure I've worked on a 95 GTX but I know the 95 XP has the fill hole on the top right and they are the same pump. If the hole was on the lower left, you wouldn't be able to fill up the pump with it installed on the ski. You want the pump full of oil. I'm pretty sure my old 91 SP had it on the top right as well but it's been years since I sold it

edit - I looked at the 95 manual and I see what you are saying about the fill hole being on the left. But the image almost looks reversed. When you align the bolt holes with the fill hole on the left, is the fill hole still at that angle? Thats about the angle it is on the right and you can fill up the pump just fine. I was thinking with the fill hole on the left, it was angled downward and you cannot fully fill the pump.

I just looked at a 1995 xp parts manual and it shows the fill screw hole on the left too. I agree it would be much easier on the right. the angle is actually a little lower when you install you so you can only fill the nose cone about 50%. I am just not sure if that is the original design or not.

Yea thats not right. It looks like the image is reversed (Like looking in a mirror). The angle of the fill hole looks correct in the manual its just reversed. If you haven't installed the pump on the ski yet I would just leave it as is and flip the pump on its side to fill it up with oil.

The manual is confusing and shows both ways. I assure you that all Sea-Doo pump fill holes must be on the upper right.

If the water is clear and not mixed with oil, it's normal. All of the big hub pump cones, as in your case, have an extra cavity surronding the sealed oil cavity. Water can collect there and is not a problem.

I really appreciate the help. So what do I use to clean the Loctite 518 off the nose cone and o-ring when I remove it . I want to re-use the o ring as it is brand new

or can I leave it on the way it is and use a syringe to fill it up. the pump is already on. I will only be able to fill the cone up to a 50% level the way it is. Is that enough? If I rotate it will fill the cone almost completely

Just clean the cone and o-ring and reapply 518. It will be fine.
You need to install it correctly and get the correct amount of oil in it.

so any suggestions on a solvent to clean the 518 off the o ring that will not dissolve the rubber. do I use a degreaser? or varsol?
