Can you work on it yourself?

Boat $3500, plus 2 new sbt engines $2000, carb rebuild kits and accelerator pumps $150, new wearing and props $500, misc crap $1500, redo all the seats for $600, you're right around $6800, this is where I'd start for my estimate for this boat to be in tip top condition, new motors, seats, pumps, and this is only if you're able to do all the work. You may get lucky and save one engine or do a rebuild and save a little cash but unless you can do the work I'd look for something that runs, plus the season is almost over, you want to buy thing out of season so you could fix it. Better to look at something that runs if you want to use it this year.. :)

i could do the work, i am sort of looking for a project to work on as i won't have any time to use it yet this year. i also found a 20' 2000 challenger that would need a new engine for $1100 would that be a good deal?

Is that a mercury engine? I only know rotax or the seadoo engines...The mercury ones were only in the boats for a few years...

I'm pretty sure the 98's where the 787s, I could be wrong but I think BRP introduced the Mercs in the year 2000.

The 98 has the 787's but the 2000 has a merc engine. Would I be able to swap a rotax in the one that has a merc?

correct... 98's are 787's. I would try and find one with less mechanical problems and maybe a shot interior. but over all not a bad price. oooor you could drive down to fl and get my 98 1800 for $4500.

Do you have any pics? Also are there any problems with it or has it been in salt water?

also, I live in FL so you know I would be lying if I said it's never been in salt water. however since all the cables are new everything moves and shifts like a new boat.

idk but if you were seriously interested I could put it on a train headed your way and you would just have to pick it up at your closest train station. Couple hundred bucks to go that route I would think. call me if you want to discuss it.

If you have an android phone download one of the free apps to video chat and I can walk the whole boat over while you are on video chat so you can see and hear live video of the boat.

I will have to look into it, I was looking for more of a project but will check into to the finances to see what I can do.

new cable is installed as of today.... I am going to get a new battery and take it out to the lake this weekend. I will honor the $4500 to you if you want it but locally the price is going back to 6k

There are companies that ship boats for pretty good prices. Try uship. I was looking to get my boat shipped from PA to KY and it was only 700.

I was figuring on asking $6k for my '98 challenger 1800 as well, in another few weeks. I don't have much pics uploaded to the internet but I'd do that before posting an official classified ad, as well as take some walk-around and on the water top-speed videos and post them on youtube.

Swingy tongue trailer, newly rebuilt carbs, brand new OEM fuel pumps, both jet pumps rebuilt with new wear rings and solas concord impellers over last winter, shaft bearings verified to be within OEM spec so i didn't change those but I have them in a package anyway, original vinyl interior in good condition, nice bimini, always ran the synthetic seadoo oil, new sony marine head unit and speakers last winter, old depth finder/fish finder, nice condition original cover, the trailer has low-friction sliders on the bunks so it's easier to get on and off, new strap on the winch, the water plugs on the bottoms of the exhaust pipes were ground out and replacements were welded in and then epoxied so that won't be an issue (one started leaking right after I bought this fresh water boat, so I fixed the rest while I had the pipe out), all the lights, switches, gauges work, the front buckets slide and rotate freely, clean bilge, grant steering wheel (Oem wheel and impellers included), newer SBT engine port side from previous owner, original starboard engine, unknown hours on each, even compression numbers across all cylinders, battery cutoff switch, battery tender, new battery...etc. I'm sure there's more.

email can be found under the contact info on the above link.

Some small tears forming in some of the vinyl, and the port side hatch has a hairline crack in it that I fixed with marine grade 2 part epoxy for plastics, sanded smooth and both hatch covers painted black.

Considering investing in a new larger boat now that I'm sure the wife enjoys boating.
