After starting engine (717) after last winters storage outside in Montreal (PWC is now in Tucson Az.) It fired right up, ran great (on trailer with water hose) smoked alot at first then started to clear (all expected) what I wasn't expecting was lots of raw oil spitting out of the exhaust. Engine has 10hrs on fresh rebuild but ran great with no oil issue until taking out of storage. It was winterized in Montreal prior to storage.

Could this be oil injection related? Its almost like the engines getting way to much oil.

Suggestions?

was it running very rough when you first started it...kinda like on one cylinder? Then when it cleared all the excess oil is coming out. I really have no real idea...just making suggestions. Check your oil injection cable too. If its off or broke it will be in full rich mode....but I think you would have a tone of smoke.

The oil will seep past the crank and rotary valve seals... and from the oil injection. If it's been stored... don't worry about it, it will clear out on the first ride.

No it was not running rough, it ran just fine for a first start after storage. I will check the oil injection cable. Has anyone heard of the injector pump sticking open even if the cable is in good shape? The engine was smoking quite a bit though, more than I would say was normal, but it did start getting less before I shut it down.

Any suggestions on best way to clear out the oil prior to putting in the water, I really don't like the idea of putting all the oil in the Lake.

Thanks again
Leon
