Ok so i went for a ride last night and before i got to the lake i had to gas up. when i got to the gas station i went to take off the gas cap and there was so much pressure in it that when i took it off it literally whoooosshhheddd air out and blew the cap at me. I am starting to think that this pressure and the factr that my ski wont run unless its on "RESERVE" all have some sort of corilation between them. The ski will run fine for a while on the "ON" postion but after a while especially at WOT it will bog down and want to die. Do you guys have any idea what could be goin on here.

Yep... if it's building pressure... you could be flooding. It's semi-common to have the check valve in the vent to plug up. It either fails (Glues it self shut) or a bug will get into ti, and die.

Pull the vent hose, and see what it looks like.

as we discussed in PM your selector is clogged, gave instruction for removing it in PM. still need to change the gray lines. as for the swoosh from the gas cap, mine does that too but I don't know if it is normal or not, can someone advise? I didn't change the vent lines when I replaced my gray lines so don't know if it's possible for a gray vent line to clog up?

Ok so the gas selector valve has that coing off of it? this ski is fairly new to me all i have done to it is put a coil on it so far so im still trying to find stuff on it

Tony, is the check valve in the vent line itself or part of the baffle? (I'd just check the diagram but my laptop with the manual loaded is not working and my hardcopy manual is at the lake.)

The pressure releif valve is usually on the end of the vent hose where it passes through the hull. In fact, there are two hoses that pass through the hull. One is an inlet and has a check valve that only lets air in, but will not let gas exit in case of a roll over. The other is the pressure relief valve that is an outlet. The pressure relief valve is suppose to relieve any pressure over 1.5psi. Therefore, if your gase cap is getting shot open, then your PR valve is not functional. My advise it to remove both the check valve and the PR valve and make sure they are functioning. You can use an air chuck to blow them out. Make sure they only work in the direction they are suppose to and put them back in in the correct orientation. As Doc said, insects love to make homes in these little orifaces and dirt daubers love to plug them up.

thanks, now that you mention it, I remember seeing them on the lines. I don't have a compressor at the lake, can I test by blowing thru them?

You guys crak me up.

You can definately check the check valve by blowing through it. You should be able to blow through it one way and not the other. The pressure relief valve is more difficult. It's harder than you think to blow 1.5psi, but possible.

I want to make this note for all viewers who are looking to replace their gray tempo fuel lines. You need to check these valves as well while doing the project. Chances are if your internal filters are clogged from the green goo of the tempo fuel lines so is your pressure relief valve. When you fill your tank very full and then it sits in the heat, the gas expands and the pressure relief valve relieves the pressure along with some fuel. The green goo will clog and make these valves stick.

I'll get my sister to check that one. :)

Ok i gotta ask what is with the sister thing i see that on here all the time JAKE are you doin something a little FUNNY on your spare time????? But hey in the mean time let me know how the SKI BLOWING GOES

A penguin is waiting around to get his ski fixed at a shop.He waddles in and the mechanic say's,"I think you've just blown a seal".
Penguin wipes his beak and say's,"I did not.I just had an ice cream".
Sorry guys.Just had to put this in the middle.
My ski did the same thing with the tank and the prv was clogged up.
