Short answer: Nope

I've heard folks say they "can" pull a skier or wake boarder, but if you plan on doing it more than once or twice you'll need something with more HP..

Look for a twin Speedsters, challenger 1800s...

Mine is pretty fast, however I dont know about pulling someone, I know it got so fast that I thought I was losing control... Though this is my first boat..

Looks like a decent boat in good shape appearcance wise. I think the price is fair if it is mechanically sound. But i dont see it pulling much effectively.

Well... the short answer is YES. Also... some people just don't want an 18' boat. (I know I don't)

Can it pull a wake board in compotition... no, but it will pull one around without any problems. Even if it was a 14.5' speedster, with 2 engines... it still isn't a great wake boat. First... it's not long or heavy enough. When I pull a wake boarder... they can pull the boat if they cut hard enough. Second... it doesn't make much of a wake.

The only thing that it can't do very well, is to pull a single ski from a stop, or pull a big inflatable with 2 people on it.

I like my Sportster.

If you can find a speedster in good condition... buy it, but don't pass up a sportster if the price is right, and it's in good condition. (that one looks extra clean)

Last thought. It's a little expensive for a sportster... but since spring showed up... you won't see the price come back down until it starts to get cold.

so is there a certain jet boat i should look for that you can pull a wakeboarder or skiier and tuber around or should i just not get a jet boat?

Jet boats dont make the most wake, so if someone wants to truely wakeboard, its not the best. But they can still be lots of fun for tubing or amateur skiing and wakeboarding. It would just work better to find one with a little more power.

i just bought one a month ago for the same reasons you are looking at one for. i chose the twin engine with a combined horse power of 200. i have not pulled anybody yet but the previous owner did and it pulled them with out a problem. as others have mentioned, this is a nice boat you are looking at but dont plan on doing much other than toolying around the lake or maybe pulling a tube. 85 horses is just not enough to push that boat and carry passangers while trying pull a skiier.

best of luck.

You have to remember the single engine jet boats are using motors designed for jet skis, not for boats that are 4 times the size/weight and carrying 3-4 people.

A single is fine for cruising around and lwake boarding, but you your trying to deep water start a salmon skier your not going to get very far...

If you are looking for a 14ft jetboat, I'd look for a twin speedster, 1996(closer to 97) and newer. The later 96 boats come with an extra rear facing spotter seat, a cooler, and duel water intakes.

The 94-96 speedsters have a single water intake and only 4 seats.
