burned gauge unreadable
If its just a Readability fix you need, I can guide you, but if its internally electrically
bad, you will need another gauge. Bills86e

The film will only repair the unreadibility of the gauge,if anything is electrically wrong with the gauge this will not fix your problem.
This fix takes about an hour. You can also select if you want black on silver or prefer a silver on black
On the back of the gauge there are three screws, take those out, then the stainless steel ring will come off. Push the grommet with the wires back into the gauge, now for the fun part, you have to remove the trim ring on the top of the gauge that holds the housing and plastic cover together.
The best tool for this is a staple remover, get up under the edge of the ring and start prying it up, you have to work it all the way around the trim ring then the trim ring should pull off. Now the gauge will come apart. You will find four screws that holds the face onto the gauge, remove those, then remove the face. You should now be looking at the LCD screen and the crinkled up film. Use a straight edge razor blade and carefully remove all of the old film.
Use some alcohol and a paper towel to remove any glue residue from the screen,it needs to be spotlessly clean. Now for the really fun part, the new polorazition film has to go on in a certain orientation, every time you flip it 90 degrees it changes from white face with black numerals to black face with white numerals.
What you do is hook the gauge back up to the boat, every single wire. Put your lanyard on and put you film up to the gauge. You can clearly see what happens when you turn it 90 degrees now. Place it in the orientation you desire and mark it,it will be rectangular, after you cut it.
So now there is no possible way to put it on wrong. Peel off the backing and stick it to the gauge, carefully working out all the air bubbles as you go. Now put your gauge back together and use a small amount of clear silicone around the edge of the gauge face to seal it to the plastic cover. Refit your trim ring, the hardest part is recrimping the retaining band.
If you get a size of the polarization film that can cover the whole guage lens ( the diameter of the housing) it should work.
Post cost, my guess $25. Best of luck, Bills86e
