Hi all...
Just bought my first seadoo for a lake house that i bought. I've been boating for years but never owned a PWC. The 1996 XP that I bought is having problems. the pwc was bought from an owner who said they had not winterized it last year, but when cranked it started right up. the first time i hit the water it ran great, but shortly after (just the next time after the motor was shut off) it is running like crap.

the xp starts up fine, but when you hit the throttle it just cuts out and will die, unless you back right off of the throttle. you can get the ski moving a little bit if you feather the throttle, but it is not consistent. i drained what i thought was all of the fuel out and put in some Seafoam, which made some smoke, but didn't seemingly have a lasting effect. the best i could get it running was full throttle about 15MPH, it almost felt like it was running on a single cylinder. the only other work that i have done is changing the spark plugs.

i need help, this will probably drive me insane until i get it fixed!

thanks,

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The 96XP is one hellova ski, I've got one. What part of the midwest are you, not trying to be personnel but I would like to know to see if we have a problem with freezing?

Before we do anything else check the compression, and let us know what it is.

Lou
