Has anyone here installed a boarding step on one of these with the X4 hull? Dose it help larger people to get back on? I would like to make it so that my 275lbs bother or dad can get back on in the deep water. Right now when he tries to board the back half of the hull submerges and tips, is there a trick for larger people to get back on these or is that a pipe dream? I have no trouble at all re-boarding I'm 170lbs and my wife can also board just fine 140lbs and ride at the same time. Its rated for 350lbs or two people. Thanks for any help or suggestions, Hoppy

I don't think it will help
It still will be tipsy.

Just tell not to fall off.
Lol

It would lower the center of gravity on the initial part of boarding, but the moment you hit the deck it would be like it always is. If you were ready to snap the lanyard on instantly and go, then there would likely be an advantage.

I agree, you would be wasting your money buying a boarding step. The ultimate solution would be to buy a larger more stable ski, a GTI or GTX.

Thanks for the advice that's what I already thought, was afraid of, and wanted to hear. I did not really want to buy and install a boarding step anyways if it was not going to help. I ges they will have to buy there own pwc or stay in the shallow if they want back on. Thanks, hoppy

my .02 but i am not too far away from 275 and i can mange to get up on my 96 xp in open water, it took me some practice but it can be done...

the strap on the seat is your friend!

Any how to suggestions? Short of strapping 100 lbs of weight on myself in open water and trial and error reboarding so I can figure it out, I don't know how to tell others much bigger than me how to reboard?

its really just a matter of upper body strength and speed, and practice, I rode with a guy up in sarasota that weighed a solid 250, younger fella and quite nimble for his size, (his nickname was "short round") anyway, he would grab the bar, quickly pop his feet up on the rear deck and kind of leapfrog onto the seat as the ski did a bit of a wheelie. trying to do it slowly or by putting one knee up there and clambering up will generally fail on an x4 unless your of average weight. They kind of need to spring up.

They can perhaps practice near the shoreline to develop a technique, or if not, what they really need is to ride a bigger hull, a GTX would be ideal and wouldn't respond anything like the xp.

With that said, its possible a boarding step would help, but I still think technique would be an important process, even with a step it needs to be done quickly and with equal weight on either side so it doesn't tip.
