I have a 1995 Seadoo XP with which I rebuilt the carbs and replaced all the lines about two years back. It runs great with high revs out of water, but when I put it in water it will run fine for maybe 30 seconds then slowly surge power randomly for about 15 seconds and just bog if you give over 1/4 throttle afterwards.
I have adjusted the Low speed and High Speed screws to factory settings. Then adjusted the High Speed because it was doing this by a 1/4 turn out. Same thing. I then moved to 3/4 turn out.. No change.
It doesn't bog or anything out of water. Usually fires right up, regardless.. Smokes at idle, not so bad at high rev out of water. Might I also add the tachometer and center gauge (oil, fuel, battery and temp) are not functioning. I read up elsewhere a shorted ground wire to the tach could possible limit the engine or something like that? Seems odd that this would be the case, but how could I test this/should I?
Bad VReg/Rectifier? It doesn't rev weird or anything.. very responsive out of water. Any help is appreciated.
