1995 Seadoo GTX impeller...

I have a 1995 GTX and when I gun it straight on, it sounds and feels like the impeller is just free spinning. It pushes water out like it wants to go somewhere but can go fast enough to get itself up on the water. If I turn the handlebars back and forth or turn hard one way and then hard back the other way, it will get up on plane...but that is the only way. Once im up on plane, it has no problems and works perfectly fine...Any ideas what would cause this? thank you for any input.

It could still be the impeller. But, as above... it's most likely the wear ring.

If your cavitation is that bad... you should look at the Carbon seal also.

The 95 should have the seal carrier tube with a grease fitting that needs grease about once a month or at least when you go back to the water and before a long dry period - the 96 may have the flexible rubber tube with carbon ring.

Where is the seal carrier tube, want to check mine on my 95 gtx but dont know where to look.
