hey guys i just bought this Seadoo from what i know its a great machine it is running very strong except there are two issues. after i started it and rode around for about 5 mins it is having troubles starting back up. if i let it sit for about 15 mins it cranks better and starts better the longer i wait. Also when i slow down to come into a dock it sometimes wants to bog out and die. are thease two problems related? and how should i go by fixing them.

i read someone eles post about similar problems but the answers were more to his machine.

any ideas!?

wanting to die at an idle could be that the idle is just too low. It should be about 1500 RPM's. (in the water) Or, the low speed screw needs adjusted.

The hard restart could be a problem with the needle and seat in the carb. When they leak... the engine will lightly flood when it shuts off.

Hi weaver. When a problem like this happens, your carburetor needle & seat most likely need replaced, as well as internally cleaned. What is happening is too much fuel is in the lower cases and manifold. Read your ski's shopmanual to become familiar with regular maintenance
and diagnosing components, ask questions here in this forum for how to enjoy fixing the ski your self, and save alot of buck$.

Doing Nothing and trying to ride a ski when performance is below 100% will definatly cause an early engine death.

If you are not up to all the technical/mechanical of rebuilding a carb, you can still save $ by removeing it yourself and have it professionally done to get back onto the water quickly.

Now that you stated it was bogging means you now need to check the engines compression. If itsaround 150 psi, its healthy internally
and a carb clean, and fuel system clean is what needs done.

so you think i should get the carb rebuilt? how do i check the engine compression?
You have to have a compression gauge. Remove both plugs and put the boots on the grounding post. Then turn the engine over a few times with the compression gauge installed in one of the plug holes. Note what each reading is and take an average. Do the same for the next cylinder and there you have it. You just checked the compression.

Make sure you hold the throttle wide open while doing a compression test... (I usually just use a zip-tie around the handle bar to hold it WOT.

hey guys i just thought of something when my starter turns it seems to like to turn a feew times and then kick out and you can hear it just spin, is this normal or could this be a starter problem

also i just checked the compression and apperently i am at 75 psi now that seems a bit low to me and i might have a faulty gauge what do you guys think?

Remove the starter,it has an internal problem. Little broken bits will find their way into the magnito's electrical coils and that could be very costly and time consuming to diagnose the OTHER problems associated with broken bendix starter bits. 4 bolts = easy 15 minutes to remove, all in the manual or our how-to posts.

Why does the throttle have to be held at WOT? I am new to PWCS, but have a collection of hundreds of outboards and it is irrelevant on the throttle position for testing them. Why on a doo does it change?

hey guys sorry for the delay i am just uploading the video now on youtube i will post the link, let me know what you think
