Hi Guys

I'm trying to resurrect a 1990 SP. I have the 587 rotax yellow motor. I want to put a SBN38 in place of the stock round body BN38. Some people say it works some say it doesn't without a different manifold but have no idea where to look.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

It works great. I got rid of the old round body carb on my 90 Si, and it's way more responsive, and has better top end. (and gets rid of the external pump) Go here:

and check post #14 to get the jetting I used. (it's my resurrection project of last year)

One thing. There is an "Old" and "New" style SBN 38. If you get an old style... it will (more or less) bolt on. If you get an New style, you will need a new style manifold, and a new style air box.

Good luck

FYI.... you are looking for a "Type 1" SBN.

My stock ran great when I first cleaned it. I wanted to try it on the lake and barely got it to start. When I got home I realized I should have changed all the hoses and cleaned the tank. Now I've done all that and recleaned and rebuilt the stock 38, it runs really bad, and the spark to the plugs cuts out if i try to give it a little throttle. If i remove the rev limiter it doesn't cut out but still runs bad.

In Short-Everyone so far has said do away with the stock. Your making my day by saying it could be a bolt on. Here is the ebay link to where I want to get one.
