1990 Sea Doo Bombardier GT carb problems?

I just bought two 1990 bombardier and they have been sitting for 3 years. i got them running after changing the fuel out but when it starts, it idles about 5 seconds and then it goes to full throttle. i am guessing there is something wrong with the carbs, maybe need a rebuild or just cleaned out but i am having trouble getting them out. any suggestions? the bolts seem impossible to get to without taking the whole motor out

remove the four rotary valve cover bolts, and pull it forward a little, then put a buttr
knife between the cover and valve plate, slide the plate back against engine, pull it
all off as a unit. Put a zip tie on the splined gear to keep plate secured, or you'll be retiming the engine. Bills86e

Some of this may seem obvious... but bear with me.

1) Remove the flame arrestor lid.
2) Remove the throttle and choke cable. (10mm nut on the flame arrestor)
3) remove the flame arrestor screen, and the 3 bolts under it.
4) remove the nut on the cable guild/throttle arm.
5) remove the cable guide, washers, and spring from the carb.

With this stuff out of the way, you can now get to the two 12mm nuts holding the carb. It's not easy to get to them, but just use an open ended wench, and you will have it out in less then 10 minutes. :cheers:

Just an FYI... do not get lazy, and try to give it a test run without re installing the flame arrestor and the bracket the goes to the head. Without the support, the manifold will crack in short order.

i cant get a wrench to the back two bolts, cuz it is a dual carb sea doo. The engine gets in the way and a wrench won't fit back there. do i need to take the right side of the motor out?

what Bills86e said..you need to remove the 4-13mm bolts securing the RV cover/intake manifold to motor, to remove the carbs.

I was thinking you had a single carb. remove the manifold as said above. Sorry.
