I have a starting issue. I usually start the machines every month and let them run on the hose for 15 min to keep the batteries and motors good. I went out to start and it cranked then stopped and started clicking. I checked the voltage and it was 11. something. I assumed it was a starter solenoid (next to the fuse board and ecu board) and I replaced it with a brand new one. I charged the battery its now at 12.4 volts and reconnected it. I go back to trying to start again and it is not doing anything different. Is there a fuse or something that I am missing. I checked the board and all of the fuses are good. also the ones that are inline to the starter solenoid are also good. Any thoughts please let me know. Oh and I also jumped the solenoid and it cranks no problem. so I am lost.

I don't know anything about the 4-Tec w/ a SC but on 2 strokes you shouldn't run them more than a minute or 2 while on the hose.

How is your starter? Did the ski ever get full of water?

The starter seems fine and the ski hasnt been full of water except that i wash the motor down after each saltwater use. (and that has been months) It has a cooling system that is closed loop with antifreeze and the ride plate is the radiator. I have found that temps in the motor are fine while running on the hose for a few minutes. I only do this when I cant take them to the dock but either way they can much more easily be run without water than two strokes.

I charged it for another day and tightened all connections and it started right up. I think I may have just had a bad connection somewhere. Anyway all is well for now. Thanks again

You should only run it for 3-4 mins out of water. The driveline has no cooling and you will cook your carbon ring.

sounds like your battery is toast!! Had the same problem but with my boat, charged the batteries and they were OK for the day but when I wanted to go out again the batteries were dead again (with the battery switch turned off) Took the batteries out and had them tested....both were done. Voltage isn't what's important, it's the cranking amps especially for the 4TEC engines. Pull it out and get it tested...would really suck if you got stranded while on the water
