This post is more for anyone that may have the same issue. Also very important to have service Manual for your motor as it walks you right thru testing if you are not familiar with it.
Over the weekend we had our Islandia have trouble starting after a few day of rain and bilge pump had been...
Trust the VVM readings and not the guage readings. Best tool I ever bought for our 250 Opti was VVM
Any Speedo on a Boat or Snowmobile is a Dream-o-meter. VVM uses GPS and is directly connected to motor for RPM's
I belive the 240 should be around 5800 rpms's but if you have the Service...
if the oil sensor is bad it would put the boat in limp mode as the computer thinks the boat is low on oil.
Limp mode only dumps more oil in so you will smoke a ton and limits the RPM so the boat can only "limp" back home.
Sensor is in the motor mounted oil tank, get a new tank and that issue...
Become a premium member to this site and you can download the service manual for the Optimax 250
There is a fuel Filter on the Vapor Separator as well as several inline oil filters. The manual also outlines the process to winterize
The motor is a great motor if given proper maintenance.
Go thru the entire fuel system, empty the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel, change out the plugs if you haven't.
Staying running with wheel turned as the system bumps up rpms far right or left of steering to help with slow moving steering...
If the motor is strong I would repair the seats. Any Boat that sits for a few years will need some TLC.
Change all the filters and plugs, change out fuel if needed.
I used Nauticus Smart Tabs on our Islandia and made it ride awesome, plane quicker, stay on plan at slower speeds and handles the rough water of multiple wakes when on the river most importantly no more porpoising
Sucked up a baseball hat today. When I pulled the boat I was surprised to see the visor hanging out the grate. Lol. We were on a tidal river so figured it was seaweed.
The rest is wrapped up good so probably pulling the grate.
