XPS II Synthetic Oil

ok, got my Tygon line (4') and new filter on its way. Starting to feel like I am gonna have a new ski before I am done!
 
the name of the thread is what i would run in your ski, XPS II FULL Synthetic Oil, (the yellow jug), and the easiest way i would do it is, remove filter, and catch all the old oil that comes out with cups, (cause it could get messy), lay some rags in hull first, then put new filter on it, and fill tank, then here is a pic of an oil pump , loosen up oil pump bleed screw and let it bleed out till no bubbles seen in your line going to pump, then start it up, cause your other lines going to motor already has oil in em -- unless you changed them
What is the bleed screw in the pic? Also, is there any other bleeding I must do since I changed the lines to the manifold?
 
once you bleed out the pump, crank engine over, (dont let it start)ground the plug wires until the oil makes it to the engine, it will take a while, so crank it some, and then wait, again and again and again, you will see oil inching its way through the lines, i have an old turkey injector i run oil through from the pump through the lines, then put the tie straps on and just start it up .. use it for filling jet pumps up when on the ski
 
Turkey baster........I have an oversize type syringe (no needle) that I could do the same thing with. Why did I not think of that myself?

Ok ok...everyone has their method and I want to share mine. I hook everything up and bleed the pump. I then pour a small cap of oil in each carb throat, hold the pump wide open, then start it and watch it fill up the new tygon lines (which I keep in stock at all times)

The reason why I do that is so I can watch the oil pump work correctly. Its saved me...when I forgot to put the plastic thing in the mag housing and a cracked oil pump that you couldnt see, but had air bubbles all the time.

on 580-720s....it allows you to check that the banjo fittings/valves work correct. It will pump oil right up to the fittings on the RV, then youll see air bubbles. If you see that, the banjo fitting needs to come off and cleaned with some carb cleaner and rechecked. I just put a hose on them and blow in, it should not allow you to. Then suck, and blow again. if it doesnt close off its junk.

I have ran into a bunch of bad ones the last few years....
 
Got the oil drained out of the tank today. I went to Home Depot and got a drill pump. Removed sending unit and ran hose down. fired up the drill and sucked it out slicker then........! Got all but about 1/2" in the bottom rear of the tank. I was going to remover the line from the filter and let it finish draining into something but got a little spooked when I realized how hard it is to get to the filter. I am worried about getting zip ties on there when I go to reinstall the lines on new filter. Anybody got any tricks for that? (pipe is still on)
